I live an hour west of Pittsburgh and like playing Quicksilver, among others. I contacted sheppy a couple times last year but I think he was busy at the time, maybe we can all get together this year. I play mostly in the Youngstown/Cleveland/S.E. Ohio/Wheeling, W.V. and Pittsburgh area so am willing to travel.

From the area as well, Belle Vernon... Recently tho I have began splitting between Belle Vernon and Indiana Pa. I know Scott@84 pretty well. Played a few rounds with him and he is a phenomenal club builder and runs a topshelf range. I mostly prefer to play during the week, not a fan of public course weekends.

Prior to being sold Pittsburgh National was called Deer Run and i thought it was a good track , you were able to walk it then but it is kind of hilly so a little difficult , it was always in good shape and was challenging from the back tees , or from any of the tees actually , i have not been there since the course changed owners but i would venture a guess it is still a good place to play

Hey all, I'm in Squirrel Hill. Always looking for some new courses to play.

My usuals are Birdsfoot and Meadow wink but I try to play as many different courses as possible.

I like Grandview myself but anyone I ever bring there hates it. I suspect because it's too hard for them and they can't get past that to see how nice of a condition the course is generally in.

Totteridge is my new fave by FAR. The best practice facilities I have ever seen. It just went public in 2009. Was private before that. Nicest course (public at least) in western PA I have ever played.

Secoond to totteridge is probably Toms Run and chestnut ridge. Try to get out there once a year and play 36 (a round on each course)

I play Pgh National once or twice a year too.

Any good courses I haven't listed that I should be playing? I want to get in Cranberry Highlands and The links at firestone (Ohio) this year. Never played them yet.

I'll let you know about the links at firestone farms end of the week will be playing there... Reserve run in ohio about an hour is not to bad... Not in the class of some of the ones you listed but it is decent value on weekdays.... the links at spring church was an interesting track when I played it. I liked it but again still not in the class of the ones you listed... I also enjoyed lindenwood golf club south of Pittsburgh. It was in great shape when I played it last year in the early summer but could not comment on conditions this year. It is 27 holes and the 9 we didn't play looked the nicest, but I forget which one it was I think it was blue, but not positive... Lindenwood would probably be my favorite out of these

What is Grandview like? I know it is North Braddock which I believe is not the best of areas, but could be wrong...Saw the Pics and it looks in great shape and nice layout. Are they deceiving or is it actually pretty nice?

I'm supposed to play Firestone Farms this Saturday. It's a fine track, most, but not all of the holes are links style. We played Lindenwood earlier this year. They tend to keep that course in pretty good shape.

Grandview is an interesting course. Make sure you play it with someone who's played it before. Lots of hills and blind shots. Don't let the zip code fool you, (north Braddock IS NOT Braddock) It sits way up on the hillside and does offer some grand views! (get it?) It's more of a target course than a grip it and rip it facility. It's usually in really nice shape. The greens can be very quick. If you know how to play position golf, you can shoot a decent number there, however, it's the kind of course where you can lose a ball a hole. Mot people hate Grandview until about the third time they play it.
