Nunchuck Shaft in an R11

The honeymoon is over.

Here is a pic of my Nunchuck R11 combo.





I got 1 round in today with it, so these are just some initial thoughts.

--The club feels overall heavy, but didn't swingweight or feel heavy when swinging.
--It is not just a backweighted shaft, I've tried those with little success. This is something different.
--It has a smooth feeling
--It is super, super straight.
--As long as other shafts.

I'm not sure I gained distance, but I did find more fairways. Happy results from day 1. Hope the next rounds produce the same.

While the honeymoon is over, the results are still exactly the same. Lots of fairways.

nice setup..... Those shafts have definitely got me on edge. I want to try it, just can't stomach that price tag without a solid demo.

How was your flight pattern with this shaft? Is it a low boring shaft?

I thought it was going to be low ball flight, but it was more of a mid flight. I'm hitting a 9* R11 and got a solid flat mid high flight.

I do hope to get on a LM soon to get some detailed information.

Swingweight is D4 at 45.5" I could get it lighter or heavier with some different weights in the head.

It was hard to tell spin, soft conditions. But almost no side spin was nice.

I have one that I just shafted up in an 8.5 FT Tour head. It swingweighted out to D8 at 45.5" long. Fixed that up with some lead tape. I haven't hit it yet, but I hope I like it because I have two more of these shafts!

I don't think this feels like re-bar at all. Even with a heavy swingweight is still had a good feel. I messed around with the weights on my R11 and it still felt good.

His frequencied at like 302 @ 45 1/2" !! Might as well be re-bar for me !

What is your swing speed? Avg drive length before and after the new shaft? Typical trajectory?

Swing around 102mph.

I was averaging about the same distance 250+. The difference was the number of fairways I hit, round 1 was very positive. I typically hit a mid high ball flight and this was about the same.

I wonder if the CPMs on this shaft are totally different than other shafts based on the design. It doesn't not play like rebar or feel harsh at all. I can't wait to get some other golfers opinions on how it plays. Anyone in the Twin Cities, MN I'll let you try it?

i don't think you can judge this shaft by normal metrics like weight, CPM, torque etc etc. the profile is just unlike anything else out there with the stiff tip, stiff butt and really soft midsection

I have Nunchuk shaft on my VR Tour (44.5") and felt so great to control every shot than whippy project x shaft. I had to learn how to adjust my swing with heavier driver at the beginning. Now I could control it very well !

I've got 4 more rounds in with this thing.

Still basically the exact same thoughts as round 1.

It is unlike anything else out there. Kind of hard to describe. Feels good, much better ball flight than expected and heavy static weight, but normal swing weight.

I have messed with the head weights a little bit more to fine tune the flight, but still as straight as I have ever seen.

Distance is not any longer than other shafts, but always in the fairway.

i think this is why guys like jhonny vegas play this shaft. they are already long enough, and are looking to decrease their driver dispersion, and this shaft seems to do that

Got home today and UPS delivered my Nunchuk...this one will be going into an R11 14 degree 3 wood. I plan to crank this down to 13 degrees, and at 43", hope to have a mini-driver that is unbelievably straight...that's the plan, anyway...

Just picked one up myself. Planning to put a 910 adaptor on it and put into my 9.5 D3. Also have a Devotion 6-04 and the stock RIP, so this ones got some tough competition! My home course is very tight, so anything I can do to hit more fairways will help. Even just 1-2 yards off the fairway can be bad where I play because of all the trees!

Once I get all of these side by side, I'll set up a deathmatch of some sort.

Yes, have 3 rounds in with the 3 wood. It plays well, and I've found it to play longer and straighter than the 910fd/ px 8a4 combo it replaced. If you like to work the ball with a 3 wood, I'd probably look elsewhere. For me, I want a laser straight flight, and the Nunchuk delivers that consistently. Feel is a little on the soft side, in my opinion, and doesn't feel quite as stout as the Miyazaki black 83x in my R11 driver.

Launch angle is higher than I expected, and overall trajectory is higher. Not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.

I have an opportunity to visit The Kingdom next month, so we'll see what the TM guys think of the combo and what the numbers look like on Trackman.

Just put one in my 9.5 910D3 and wow is all I can say. It replaced an Oban Devo 7 05 too. Playing at 44.5" and it is incredibly straight. Flight is mid consistent no matter how hard or soft I swing. Carry is about the same as the Devotion but much more accurate. Feels like I'm cheating.

Agree 100%. Just got my Devotion shaft, and Im thinking of selling it without even hitting it!

I have been playing the Nunchuck since February in my driver, 3 wood, 4 wood and the hybrid that I sometimes carry. I am still amazed how straight the ball goes with this shaft especially in the driver. Distance is about the same but I am more consistently in the fairway off the tee and more consistently hitting my target with the other clubs. I would definitely recommend anyone looking to hit more fairways giving it a try. It is definitely a little different but pretty much everyone I know that has tried it is now gaming it.
