Lost a golf tournament yesterday...

Hey guys,

Just felt like blowing off some steam on here.. I was in First place with two holes to go yesterday and ended up hitting my tee ball down the right side of the fairway on 17. It hit the fairway and bounced hard right behind a tree that is just off the fairway. Got stuck right on it and had to play out. Ended up making bogey while the guy who was one shot behind me made birdie.. Ended up losing the tournament by a shot and felt like the worst feeling in the world. It always great to be in contention to win, just wish that I could finish it out well and win a tournament. Sorry for those of you who don't want to hear a complaint about losing a tournament.. But it just hurt pretty bad to have the lead and lose it.

Hey, look at it this way: You put yourself in the position to possibly win a golf tournament. That's really all you can ask for. After that, the chips will fall where they may.

Sounds like you caught a bad break. Unfortunately, it happens. Keep your head up and know you played well enough to win, and get 'em next time!

I used this kind of thing to make me want the next one more. In my mind, somebody stole a tournament that belonged to me, that I deserved. Got a mind set where I basically said "next time, i'll be far enough ahead that nobody is stealing it with a lucky bounce."

Yep as others have said. You played well enough for 17 holes (sounds like you at least parred 18). You were right there with a chance to win. That's all anyone can hope for. You're bound to get one of those breaks that go your way someday soon, maybe catch a shot a bit off the toe, but it still carries onto the green when you thought you were going to be in the front bunker.

Just knwo that you've got the game to compete. Let us know how your next match goes.

The tournament was down here in Kansas. I go to college in Kansas and it was a windy day both days. The course we play is pretty tough.. but I am looking forward to preparing for the next tournament and hoping that I will be able to put myself up on top again.

as someone else said, just keep getting yourself into contention - it's really all you can ask for - if you keep getting in contention, it will happen...

No, I don't go to KU. I have only been playing golf for about four and a half years now (senior). I started playing right before I graduated high school so I never really had a chance to play somewhere big based only on potential. It was in Hutchinson at the Highlands. Definately a tough course especially when the wind is blowing.

The Highlands is a tough course. Way to put yourself in the lead. That is not my favorite course.
