I love Caddyshack, but Dead Slid Perfect was a better "golf" movie, as was The Greatest Game Ever Played.

Yeah it's getting pretty bad. I am 40 and grew up watching The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, All in the Family, etc.. Much simpler times. Nowadays, the stuff on Family Guy and South Park put those shows to shame yet it is accepted because it's animated I guess. People need to just loosen up.

I get what you are saying, but the scene is meant to show Judge Smails is a racist and the Bishop is a hypocrite. That's what their characters are. It's not meant to glorify racism so there is no reason to remove it or even object to it.

And yes, best/greatest golf movie of all time.

Caddyshack is one of the most overrated films of all time. Without Rodney Dangerfield it would be a downright bad film. While it has memorable lines, it is horribly dated. At this point I find it unwatchable.

The Judge is classic. Ever scene is classic. Do a few cannonballs and you might change your tune.

I think that it's a great movie and the only thing dated about it are the old clubs. I particularly like the send up of the psycho-babble approach to golf. "Be the ball Danny." "Gunga la gunga." So I've got that going for me.

I voted maybe but after thinking about it I have to say yes. I have seen and enjoyed almost every golf movie that has been made but this one is a classic for a reason.

Exactly, and guess what, Dangerfield is in the movie, and it is still awesome, 30 years later.

I find that movie gets funnier each time, "you two look like a couple of boogies"

That being said, I think I’ll take both sides of this issue. I’ll say that Caddyshack is the best movie involving golf. However, it’s not the best “golf” movie. I think The Greatest Game Ever Played is the best golf movie (I haven’t seen Dead Solid Perfect. I’ll have to watch it) because the sport itself and the men playing it was the main focus of the movie. Caddyshack’s main focus was on being funny, and it obviously succeeded at that. Both great movies. Just my .02

I finally watched Tin Cup all the way through. It's okay but I like Caddyshack a lot more. I get the point but I found the ending a little unsatisfying. One of the best parts is how close Roy McAvoy is to Rory McIlroy.

I love Dead Solid Perfect. I wish they would put that out on DVD. Back to Caddyshack- I was on a golf weeked with a bunch of dudes recently and when we woke up, it was raining. As God is my witness, three different guys walked out the their rooms, without hearing the others first, and said "I don't think the hard stuff's coming for a while". If it is not the best golf movie ever, it is at the very least the most quoted on the golf course.

if i had to sit down and watch one golf related flick, of course it would be caddyshack. it may not be the most golfy flick of them all, but the performances turned in by ted knight, chase, dangerfield... magical!
every now and again, at a social function/party of some sort, i'll break out smails' toast from the christening of his sloop... never fails to entertain.

which is nice.

Any time somebody says "So I got that goin for me" I will always follow with "which is nice". Caddyshack is one of those movies I've seen so many times that the "normal" funny stuff almost becomes secondary to insiginificant scenes that make me laugh over time. To me, one of the funniest lines is when they are all arguing towards the end of the movie and the Judge says "I demand satisfaction!" Cracks me up every time.
