My "grail" driver arrived today!!!

After over a year of begging my buddies at Ping and trying to get them to let me have a 7.5* G15, my persistence has finally paid off!! Don't have time for a long write up because I am heading to the range immediately so I can launch a few with this bad boy before heading to work.

Specs:

LH Ping G15 7.5*
-Graphite Design DI7x
-44 1/2 inches
-D4 swing weight

Driving range update.... It's LONG. Forgot to tee it up a bit higher on the first few swings and hit some snipers, fixed the tee height and unleashed some bombs. This thing is a cannon. Hopefully I can get on the TrackMan soon and post some #'s compared to my 9* G15 / Kai'li combo and this cannon.

I have the 7.5* head with a RIP 70X and the thing bombs. Enjoy it Im hitting it further than I ever have before, longer than my trusty 975D even!

Maybe, but NOT in lefty. It's hard enough finding a good deal on a 9* head - I've been looking for 2 months! Finally, there are a couple up there.

Also, your 9* combo with the Kai'li 70 X is MY golf holy grail.

Been playing the Kai'li since it came out. It is amazing...BUT the DI7 feels smoother to me. I 100% didn't think the Kai'li could be beat in that aspect but I think I really do like the feel of the GD even more.

4 months ago I was able to order (begging was invloved)a 7.5* G15/Axivcore Red combo from Ping.

It is the longest, most accurate, and the most forgiving driver I have ever hit. IMO, no other driver even comes close.

It will be in the bag for a good long time

Just out of interest, when you guys say the 7.5 is long... how long are we talking?

I played both my 9* and my 7.5* side by side today. On solid hits, I would say my 7.5 was a good 15-20 longer. Launch was pretty prime too, I know on TrackMan I launch my 9* at around 16*. Haven't been on the TrackMan yet with my 7.5 but the launch angle definitely is considerably lower and more in the window that I prefer.

I suspect the reason for them popping up on eBay is buyers think they can hit it... but come to realize after its in their hands, 7.5 is considerably less forgiving then it's 9* brother. Just because someone has SS and plays "X" shaft doesn't mean his swing mechanics are so grooved there's a wear spot on the sweet spot. Off just a fraction at impact and it's a slice machine!

Very true Turbo. However it really isn't a difficult driver to hit at all. I will agree though, if your swing isn't grooved and you don't naturally hit the ball high, then this is definitely not the stick for you.

I can't help but wonder how many people that frequent this DB have grooved swings. Mine is about as grooved as it's going to get. I have an old custom made RL Zeidler Absolute 8*, (real 8) 288cc Ti head with a Grafalloy Blue Tour X, setting in the garage. I use to bang it out there 280+. Talk about line drive.
