I had those irons earlier this year. I would say that directionally they are pretty easy. I love hitting long irons, one of the strong points of my game. I found these easy to flight, but my normal ball flight was a bit too low. I have played blades and pro cavities for my whole golfing career and never had such a lowish flight. I hit my current protos and my old mp68's higher than these on a stock swing.

There definitely some very solid irons when struck well-Great feel.I think the shaft helps alot & i lke the KBS Tour in my 63's.I went & grabbed some R9TP's for the early season when i'm NOT striking the ball that solid.I get mid trajectory w/the 63/kbs(3-5).

I would say it's personal opinion and swing. I have the 63's and love the ball flight throughout the bag. The long irons ball flight is higher than the ball flight of my old Titleist cb's

Mizuno says that they design the cavity for each club a little different. Making the short irons more controllable while making the long irons easier to hit? Do you feel this?

I have the MP 53 in 3-6 and MP 63 in 4-PW so I have the 4-6 of both shafted with the DG X100's and I have been playing around with both heads in those lofts...I will give you the 53's first as the 63's are a bit more demanding. I normally don't use a 4 iron but this year I have been toying with it as I also love hitting the long irons. I actually practice with my 3 iron quite regularly but on the course I carry a hybrid...

MP 53 - a little more forgiving especially on my normal miss which is to hit it fat. Misses on toe normally are not affected directionally (unless it is a big miss) and distance loss is obvious but not severe. Ball flight is a little higher than I like but minimal impact in wind so obviously not ballooning too much. Ball in controllable and normally stops not too far from where it landed so the flight is a bit more up and then down (if that made any sense).

MP 63 - feel is better and ball flight is ideal for me as they get the ball up, then the flight flattens out with a very, very controllable landing. For whatever reason despite the lower apogee than the 53's the 63's hold the green nicely. I have stuck quite a few greens with the four and five iron. Forgiveness is definitely NOT there compared to the 53's for my swing. The 63's have a tendency to dig a bit for me when I miss fat (not severely but noticeably). Distance loss is noticeable when I miss fat and definitely when I miss out on the toe...the 63 will not save you directionally on the toe miss. It is not severe (maybe 10 yards) but I have certainly noticed it on my misses compared to the 53's.

For me I prefer the ball flight and feel of the 63's but for scoring the 53's are in the bag (4 & 5 iron) and I play the 63's from 6-PW. It is a combo that works well for me. I have toyed with putting the 53 6 iron in the bag as well but I just like the flight and feel of the 63's more so I have kept that configuration in play.

Somewhat like kencanuck, I'm gaming 53 in 3-6 and 63 in 7-PW. My only reservation is not switching the 6i out for a 63. The 63 does launch a little lower than the 53, and the 53's are noticeably more forgiving and a tad less workable. However, I prefer this. My 3i is usually in the 230-235 range and as an 8.5hdcp, I really have no business working an iron at that distance unless it's to get out of trouble or to set up an eagle!

The 63's though are soooo sweet when you pure them, the 53 feels great but to me it's more of a solid thwack as opposed to the marshmallow that is a pured 63.

Hard to say. I think throughout the set, if I make a good swing they are all pretty easy to hit. If I make a bad swing I can shank an 8 iron just as easy as a 4 iron.
