My iron and driver swing, please take a look

Finally had a chance to take my new Casio FH100 to the range for some slow motion footage.

It's amazing the things you pick up on.

I noticed a couple things with my swing:

1) Over swinging a bit. Even though I try not to, it's still there.

2) Didn't realize I had a chicken wing with my irons. Still present a bit with the driver. Could this be a reason for my slice?

3) Can't tell if I am OTT with the driver. Been working on correcting this.

Here are my misses:

Irons: Either pull or slight fade

Driver: Either pull or banana slice (starts left and shoots right)

Any comments / drills appreciated.

This wont help you, but I really like your swing! I would love to have that many FPS in a camera, just cant bring myself to shell out the $ for one.

Your incomplete coil going back is causing a pivot stall and a flip at impact.To correct this try the following
First, toe out your left toe 22.5 degrees at address.this will tighten up your coil going back,shorten your backswing and make it easier to rotate on the downswing.
Second you sway load going back.Just put your cursor on your left hip.The cursor should stay on your hip in the entire backswing.Yours does not.To help correct this kick your right hip in and down a bit at address.This will brace your right knee and place your weight on the inside of your right foot at address.Although your right leg can straighten a bit,you must maintain this brace of the right knee throughout the backswing.
Third you disconnect your arms from your body going back(lifting arms).To correct see 2 above and try to continue turning your hips and shoulders throughout the backswing while maintaining the brace of the right knee.
Pivoting correctly going back will help create an elastic tension in your left lat inner right thigh at the top of your backswing .this elastic feeling will help to automate your downswing.
2 drills
a.place a nerf football just below and between your elbows.swing back with the feeling that your chest and arms are moving together(connected)
b..tie a beach towel around the clubhead of an iron .make 1/2 swings at 1/2 speed.the weight and drag of the towel will force
you to coil better going back and to pivot through with your core on the downswing

Thanks. Check out the Casio Camera Thread. Tons of useful info. I believe there is a casio model that does HS video but cheaper than the FH100.

hahah. yes it is. Used to go a lot more when I lived in Queens. They've made quite a bit of changes.

johnny,

I think you got a lot of good advice from russc here.

I just want to add that your back swing is too armsy, not enough shoulder turn and far too little hip rotation. Based on where your hands is at address you shouldn't really need to swing your arms more around your pivot. Just swing them with your pivot instead. You want to have as much pivot rotation from hip height to hip height as possible getting down. And your back swing needs to reflect that somehow.
