Is it me or do the 712 AP2's look bigger than the 710's? Too much going on for me....the more I look at the pictures the more i like my 710s...just look cleaner to me. :drag:

+1.

The new badging looks absolutely hideous on the AP1's and particularly the AP2's. Move over callaway, Titleist wants to make some seriously hideous looking irons as well.
Because the back of the club has so much effect on your shots, score, and game..........
Yeah, the AP1 and Callaway are some ugly clubs. For the hacker like myself, they are worth it. Wish I never sold my Callaway X-12 irons. Been trying to find some old X Pro series irons in good shape.

Sooooooo close Titleist! Still gaming the 690.mb loaded with lead tape and bag chatter. Been waiting for something to take them out. Hoping the 712's would do the trick (along with some satin shafts like the PX or new KBS) as I just won't pay up for Scratch or something from Japan (that would take away from the driver/shaft fund). Love the general look of the 712's but the MB stamp on the back is just too big. Most guys looking to play blades love simplicity.... Not sure if I will partake or not but want to see a photo from address but the top line looks a bit chunky in one of the photos.

Great looking line-up. Once again I don't understand all the negative comments about a well thought out offering of clubs. Something for everyone, consistency of purpose of design. Yet, somehow not good enough. I don't have time, but I would like to see the correlation of the negative posters for this line-up and the very successful series of new forged clubs from Taylormade. The Taylor line-up was new and a change for them, for Titleist this is a good evolutionary release of new equipment. Personally I can't believe the depth and quality of the new clubs coming out. For the experts out there, do you think this is the result of R& D (engineering) or competition?

The MB and CB line look like the Cobra S3 Pros to me. Looks like a high pointy toe on them. Personally I think the S3 pros are the best out there right now.
High pointed toe would shock me...I don't think so but I could be wrong. I have a feeling the AP2, MB's and CB's are relatively the same club with rebadging.

I'll hold judgment until I see the look of the 712 CBs at address. My biggest problem with Titleist CB's of past has been the THICK topline. If Titleist has fixed the issue and made the topline more of that of a players club, then I'll give them a try. Otherwise, the Nike VR Pro Combo's will stay in the bag.

+1
I also noticed the chunkier topline on the previous models, but it doesnt bother me that much. That said I hope they made it a touch thinner, it would make then perfect . Cant wait for the address pics ;)

Since you want to stick with Titleist, I doubt you will find a replacement better than the 690·MB
Best blade Titleist ever offered to the general public.

Here are some great pics I took from the original thread where our member DTown3011 posted Pics for the first time. I thought the Pics needed their own new thread.

Thanks DTown3011 Derek!!!

Also Team Titleist just posted their own story. You can find it here... http://www.titleist....og/default.aspx
As you read this, several dozens of long, cardboard boxes, imprinted with the Titleist Script, sit in the back of a delivery truck en route to Arnonimink Golf Club just outside Philadelphia, host of next week's AT&T National PGA Tour event. They were all shipped from the same place, the Titleist Tour Deparment in Carlsbad, Calif.

On Monday morning, our Titleist Tour Reps at Aronimink will begin opening those boxes, each one marked with the name of a player in this week's AT&T field.

Inside the boxes: Prototype Titleist AP1, AP2, CB and MB irons (712 Series), which are being introduced on the PGA Tour this week for testing and seeding as part of our performance validation process.

(Please note: "712" is the series designation. Titleist has long used 700 numbers for irons, just as we just 900 numbers for metals. Accordingly, the "7" stands for irons, while the "12" stands for the new model year, 2012.)

Over the last few weeks, the Titleist Tour Department has been focused on building these iron sets to the custom specifications of our Titleist Brand Ambassadors.

This week at AT&T, members of the Titleist Leadership and R&D teams will begin working with our players to show, explain, fit and test the new irons, a process that will continue over the coming weeks across the worldwide professional tours. The feedback we receive during this validation process influences the design and specifications of the Titleist products available in golf shops around the world.

We will continue to provide behind-the-scenes information and product details here on the Team Titleist blog throughout the seeding and performance validation process.

Click the photo below to view images of the first builds and shipment of 712 prototype irons from the Titleist Tour Department and some recent testing out at the Oceanside Test Center.

Yeah I love my AP2 710s but the new ones look a little chunky. No regrets on my purchase. Still great looking clubs, just don't seem to be much of an improvement over the 710s.

Chunky, how can you tell from these pictures? Just wondering.

Am I the only one that thinks the AP2 looks like a rebadged 710 AP2? Nothing groundbreaking here, Ill hold on to my 710 AP2s until they dont work anymore...

I am a huge Titleist fan, and I think they could have made some big moves in regards to this years release. [i][u]"Could Have"

The new ones look less chunky, I think that's why I like them. I doubt you can see that bar at address, that would not be good. I wonder what the purpose of the bar is, more penetrating flight maybe, higher COG? Didn't the 710AP2 have a reputation for high ball flight?

The 712 AP1's look to be a great deal smaller than the 710 model. If they manage to reduce the size of the 712 AP1 and keep the forgiveness of the 710 model then they will no doubt have a great club. I too think that the AP's are little busy but these are just prelimanary, maybe they will calm it down before they release them to the masses?

if it ain't broke...

I don't think their market is the 710 AP2 owner, necessarily. There are plenty of golfers that need new clubs this year so why not make some minor cosmetic and bounce upgrades on an already EXTREMELY successful iron and sell it. No reason to risk ruining a great thing.
