Courses in Colorado Springs

recommendations

I'll be in CO Springs next eek and was looking for a recommendation. I may need to rent clubs so if a course does that it ould be a plus. Not too far out of the city either. Thanks!

It doesnt really fall into your not too far out of the city requirement but, bear dance golf club is one of my favorites in Colorado, It is just a quick trip up the 25 and well worth looking into playing [url="http://www.beardancegolf.com/"]http://www.beardancegolf.com/[/url]

The Broadmoor. I like all three courses but the mountain has the best views.

In order of my preference:

1. Broadmoor East or Mountain courses - if you're willing to spend some cash.
2. Either of the Eisenhower courses at the AFA - if you're active/retired military or know someone in town who is.
3. Antler Creek (from the tips) - if you think that you're a long hitter.

Is the Eisenhower open for play if I am not military? It's really close to my hotel (Homewood Suites).

Not as far as I know. I'm ex-military (not retired) and play there about once a year and each time one of my buddies who is retired military sets it up. I think that they require the person making the tee time to have a US Gov't ID card.

Yep, Bear Dance is a great track. When I was there last year the greens were very slick coming down some of the slopes. Beautiful views.

I would also recommend Bear Dance. Probably about a 30 minute drive from the Springs and with the drive for a true mountain golf experience. The Broadmoor is also a good option (East or Mountain, although think the East is a notch above). I go back to Colorado each summer and generally drive from Denver to play BD or stay at the Broadmoor.

Country Club of Colorado (below the Broadmoor courses on the same mountain). It is connected with Chyenne Mountain Resort and you can get on. Good track, especially holes 17 (par 3 with lots of water).

Antler Creek is stupid long but fun, Broadmoor is a great track but expensive, CCC is a good track also, Pine Creek isn't too bad either and the AF Academy courses are top notch! There are plenty to choose from.

I believe the Broadmoor East course will be closed as they are hosting the U.S. Women's Open the week of the 4th of July.

Still might be able to play the West or the Mountain course though, they are both great courses.

We loved both Eisenhower courses, especially the blue, we also went with a retired marine. Not sure if an all civilian group could get on but it would be worth checking into.

Very true, last time I played up there a few years ago I was having a conversation with the starter before we went off I asked him about the greens he said the were running between 13-14 I laughed it off thinking ya right maybe around 11-12 at the most, but nope they were running every bit of 14, you missed a 3 footer and had a 10 foot comebacker it was crazy fast. I cant recal a round with more 3 jacks than that, and I love faster greens and putt my best on greens that run in the 10-11 range.

When I was in the PGM Program at UCCS Pine Creek was our home course. It has it's fair share of challenging holes. Definitely a good track though.

Played Pine Creek this morning. Fun course. Gold tees played just under &200 yards. Wasn't a mpountain course but it was hilly and the mountains in the background made for some nice views. Conditioning was a little rough in a some areas but the greens rolled pretty well. Good value at $32 to walk. Club rental, on the other hand, let much to be desired.

Pine Creek is nice and very close to where you are staying.
Antler Creek is an 8100 yard beast but usually in good shape
Kings Deer is a nice Scottish links style course and usually in good shape
Bear Dance is really nice but a bit of a drive
Another very nice course that isnt much farther than Bear Dance is The Ridge at Castle Pines. Its a Troon course. You can find deals on EZ Links.

You cant go wrong with any of these. Enjoy!
