Thinking of picking up a pair of oakley flak jackets in white. Which lens do you guys prefer with them? like g30 or g30 iridium or positive red iridium. Thanks guys
have to agree with the rest that the g30 seems a little bit too light. Am using slate iridium lenses and seems to be right in the middle. Never tried pos red before though.

Recently I started using my G30 Path lens for cloudy conditions or early morning rounds......wow are they great under those circumstances.

My 2nd lens is the VR28 Black Iridium Path....great lens for extremely bright conditions. I too would like to try out the Positive Red however.

yea, I kinda want to use them as my everyday sunglasses too for like driving and stuff. So far is seems the regular g30's are too light, I would mainly wear these glasses in sunny conditions, probably wont wear them if its cloudy. Still undecided on which ones to get, may go with g30 iridium if they are good for everyday use as well and look good from the outside.

got this pic off of oakleys website: what lenses r these?

G30 is my go to lens for most days and I feel like the higher light transmission gives me better sight clarity in all conditions. If it's a very bright clear day, I have a pair of slate iridiums that I plug in to darken things up a bit.

For other bright light applications, like on the water or snow, I have a pair of Gold Iridium Polarized, but they are too dark for the golf course.

So, I'd say you definitely want a pair of G30's and then add alternate pair of your choosing as a backup for very bright days.

Transitions lenses, hands down. You get the right amount of shading in all light conditions and if the transition is from persimmon to dark, you get better contrast. Absolutely the best lenses I've ever used in golf and I've used black iridium, positive red, ice polarized, VR28 (which would be my second choice), some Ray Ban golf specific lenses and plain gray. I'll never use another set unless they stop making them.

yea i might need 3 frames cause I definitly want a pair of g30s (not sure if iridium or not) and I definitly want a pair of pos red after watching a couple vids of rory and ian p., both of them wear pos red so they must be good. Plus the pos red looks good on the exterior with white frames.

I would just go with the +Red Iridium's. I originally had G30 Black Iridium's in my white Flak's, but wanted something that let a little less light in. The +Red fit the bill and look sweet in the all white frames, I'll upload a pic of mine tonight.

+1 Flak Jacket with G40 Transitions lenses are superb. I've used many different pairs of "golf specific" sunglasses, these are hands down the best.

thanks guys, I try to check out the g30s and pos red at the store. I want to try out the new fast jackets but it doesnt look like they come in white frames unless you get a set already made with polarized lens's. anyone know when we should be able to customize the fast jackets

It may be later this year but you are going to pay a hefty premium for those Fast jackets. I think we need to clarify there are two kinds of G30 lenses. Black Iridium and Bluish Iridium. The standard G30 that comes with the golf array is the bluish G30 which you saw Ricky wearing in that link someone posted. The other is a silvery finish over the G30 tint and I can tell you as I own both that they are different. I think the black iridium really helps deflect the light more than the standard G30 and thus is better for extreme sun. The regular G30(bluish) is just a fantastic all around lens and I think actually makes me putt better. Here is a pic of my black iridium G30.

Kind of hard to tell in that light but you can barely make out no BLUE tint on the lens. I like em both

hey guys, just curious. I have the Flak Jacket with G30 but my G30 lense is reddish / pinkish. The posts above mention black and bluish.

Can anyone help me identify which ones I have?
That's the "blueish" one. What you have is just called "G30". There is a "G30 Black Iridium" which is the other one.

Yeah we are talking about the iridium. Regular g30 are pinkish in color, but the iridium is a film on the lens to darken them up just a bit. Comes black iridium only not blue.

I could explain the g30 for days,but I shorten by saying the g30 is specific to golf in that they let light in and use your natural eyes to give that high def look. Oakley said that people who use dark black or polarized lenses and you take them off to putt,your eyes dilate. Therefore making your shot off,cause your eyes are not fully focused. Kinda like coming in from sun to dark or vis versa. Here is what mine look like. They are the g30 black iridium

So what do most prefer the regular g30 or the black iridium g30?

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

No offense to you,but those are not g30 lenses. Those are the vr28. Take a look at mine. Those are more brownish in color and not pink. Just thought I would point that out so the op is not confuse.

I prefer the g30 black iridium. The black iridum helps in really sunny days,but they still work in overcast or cloudy days. In saying that I only use these for golf,and nothing else. So from a golf standpoint I love them,but I would never wear them casually.

There are certainly many options that can work. Personally, I am a fan of the G30's purely for performance.

They have a slight rose tint. The logic is that red is the very best tint to increase contrast in anything green since they are chromatic opposites. It makes it easier to read breaks and generally see detail of grassy surfaces. The only shortcoming – it doesn't help you track the ball in the air quite as well on drives.

The G30's have a less-dark tint. That keeps your pupils constricted and gives you better depth-of-field vision. While they may not be the most relaxing for your eyes, there's a good reason. Your eyes work just like camera lenses. In bright light, with a small aperture (constricted pupils, light/no lens tint) you could see from, say, 10' to 50' – all in focus without your eyes having to re-focus at all. Giving you a depth of field of 40'. In the same light conditions, with a large aperture (dialated pupils, dark lenses), you might see from 20' to 40' – all in focus without your eyes having to re-focus at all. Giving you a depth of field of 20' - not so good. It's why people take off their sunglasses to putt. If you have a digital SLR camera, just go take a few pictures using the manual aperture setting, you'll see the difference.

A larger depth-of-field is important in golf as it allows you to take in the "whole picture" of a putting green instead of your eyes having to re-focus several times along the path of your line. It's easier for your brain to process the break line on a single image rather than a montage of 4 or five focus points.

Polarized lenses will help cut some glare. But that really only makes a difference when you're standing on the tee box (or looking for a lost ball in a pond) which is probably the least important spot for detailed vision due to the distance of shot you're taking.

The light-tint lens is nice since you don't have to keep taking off your glasses every time you're in a shadowy area or if a cloud passes over.

just placed an order for white frame, white rubber with positive red iridium, in the flak jacket XLJ. I plan on ordering some g30 black iridium lens when I get a little more money, didnt want to spend another 65 at the moment. The pos red iridium will be my everyday lens and Il try them on the course until I get the g30's for golf
