What combination loft would you play with this shaft? I'm thinking about getting a Callaway FT Tour....swing speed is about 105-108 but very smooth......any shaft/loft recommendations?? I hit it fairly high with a 9 Mactech tour/stulz 65-033-050 combo....seems the face has caved/cracked.....

I'm actually playing the Tour AD DI in my FT Tour. I have a DI-6 S-flex tipped 1" in my driver and a DI-7 S-flex tipped 1.5" in my TaylorMade R9 3-wood. I'm probably the same swingspeed as you - ball speed in the low 160's most likely.

I can understand why it's getting a large following on tour. It's one of the finest shafts I've played ever

The site says it is a high launch/low spin shaft. How does the initial ball flight compare to that of a WB?

Would really like to know why people are comparing it to the WB when the website says it's a high launch shaft, which is the main reason i've stayed away from it despite hearing so many good reviews.

Titleist's 2011 Fitting Guide shows the DI shaft as Mid Launch, Low-Mid Spin. I gather with tipping you could bring launch and spin down a bit. I am interested in the new G series, I think with some tipping it could be a low launch, low mid spin shaft.

Its not appreciably higher than a Whiteboard weight for weight - try it out - you will be pleasantly surprised - I mentioned in another thread - in the DI7 or DI8 X flexes, this AD DI shaft spins less than the MRC shafts for those who have a zero to positive angle of attack!!

I've found the same to be true for me. Have a DI-6 in a 9* G15 and a 8.5* Cobra S3 and both are mid-launch and lower spin. I've noticed that my drives have more rollout and haven't seen any ballooning. I used to balloon my previous FT-9 Tour with Fubuki Tour once in a while.

I am now testing out a 15.5* G15 with the DI-7.

I have a di6 installed straight in my tour stage 703. This shaft is incredibly smooth. Just one of the finest feeling shafts I have hit. Dispersion is tight and ball flight is mid high to high depending on my swing. Seems to have pretty good rollout. So impressed I got the hybrid shaft. Guess I will have a few pullouts to sell...fubuki, Kaili

What do you think the DI7 would do in the FT? I love to feel the shaft load while transitioning to my downswing. Which GD would you go with, with that in mind? I have a Graf Prolite x in my other driver. That was a tour-van shaft, and is heavier than the regular prolite. I love the heaviness of that shaft. It is just below an x-flex in stiffness.

I've hit and played Whiteboard 73X, 83X and Tour AD DI 7X and 8X in Titleist 909 and 910 drivers pretty extensively for the past few years. I honestly don't think there is too much difference in launch between the two. If Whiteboard is considered low launch and low spin then I would group Tour AD DI in the same category.

It's a great shaft, broke mine, bought another. Ouch that was a expensive hit.

No it just snapped above the ferrule, called gd, they would not replace because I bought my driver used. Kinda sucks, but I like the shaft so much went ahead and bought another, so now I am hitting a 800$ driver ...lol.

By the way all you tippers...Titileist guys.. When I called graphite design about my problem, they said that titleist tips all the tour ad di's 1 inch. The gd guy kinda did not sound too happy about this, citing the effort put into designing the tip. Mine untipped, and it freakin rocks for my 100 mph swing.

Their great shafts, and they look awesome too! The only problem is the price for me, they are so expensive. I game a 83x whiteboard and found that the di series launch a bit higher although I only got to try a 6x out. But they are super smooth, feel great, and flat out perform,

I had mine tipped 1/2 inch which really doesn't do too much to it. Makes me feel better as I can tell everyone my shaft is tipped! I also had heard that the AD DI 6 played soft to flex. I have never compared an untipped one to a tipped, so I can't confirm if the shaft will play better according to Graphite Designs recommendations.

Now, if someone has a DJ for a 3 wood, let me know. ;)

Yes you are right. Also Mahan was using the Tour AD DJ series for FW woods. I hit the DJ series and they are the smoothest, most accurate shaft I have ever hit.

+1 the DJ is in my Yonex ezone 380 and love it, so accurate it is sick! smoother than the DI series in my opinion as well.

I'm sure the 8X would launch pretty close to your whiteboard. All 5 and 6 series have slightly higher launches than the 7 and 8 series counterparts. They also have a DI TX flex which is more like a true X since they all do play soft to flex. The TX is very close to a WB83X. Tiger was hitting a TX when he tried out the DI.

I have a MD7x in my D and tipped it 1" to stiffen the tip and keep the spin down. What a shaft! GD makes the smoothest shafts out there and probably the best performing as well.
Definitely tip the DIs.... GD recommends no tipping on their site but I think they play a little loose/weak to flex without it. Tipping mine 1" most of the time.

DI anything would be great in a driver - just pick the weight range you want and go with it.

For me, the DI-6 is more of a mid launch, low spin. It is a fairly smooth shaft, but not as smooth as say a Kai'li IMO.

I just pulled out my Kai'Li 70S and put a DI 7s in my RAZR Hawk Tour. Initial testing on Trackman indicates that the DI shaft is better than Kai'Li, both feel and numbers. Range testing will follow tomorrow morning...
Have had a few range sessions with the 3 wood and played one round it, but I only hit it once during that round. While not enough play for a verdict yet, but initial thoughts are that the head feels solid and the ball flight is what I was looking for. Medium height and low spin. My other 3 wood is a 15* Fast 10 with a Devotion 7 and the ball flight is similar. I haven't taken the time to hit them side-by-side yet though. I have a DI-6x tipped 1/2" in the driver and have the DI-7x straight in with the 3 wood. I initially thought the 15.5* loft would be a little too much and almost went with the 14* i15. But I think the 15.5* head with the DI-7 shaft is good combination for me.

I am playing once this weekend on a course where I'll probably hit the 3 wood twice off the tee. Then off to a golf trip next week where we are playing 72 holes in 3 days, so I should have plenty of on course time with it.

Badgers 2012 National champs? I had to read that twice. I follow Big 10 football and Wisconsin has been one of my favorite teams to watch and wager on the past few years. However, I've been a Michigan fan since I was little and I actually almost went there for college. So you may take what I say with some, umm, hesitation. :man_in_love: Haha. I am looking forward to this college football season though!

Edit: corrected spelling

I don't know why people say these play soft. I have a DI7X in my 910D3 and it frequencies at 284 - hardly soft to flex. Also, Tiger wasn't hitting the TX he was using the straight X flex - that's according to what the GD rep posted in another thread.
