TimberCreek - anyone know what condition it is in?

TImber Creek - anyone know what condition it is in? I don't live close so can't just go check it out. Was thinking about playing it with an out of town friend this coming week. Read that they had had issues with the greens and that it was not in good condition but they were still charging the same price as if it were pristine. Would just like to know if I need to look elsewhere. Thanks

Greens are fine. There are a few that have some small 5' X 5' areas that need to be replaced otherwise they are nice. I'll be playing this Friday. I played Battleground Wednesday, and I'd venture to guess they have the best conditioned fairways of any public course in Houston. They received some nice rain twice last week and I'd wager the greens are really nice right now.

As for Timber Creek, I havent played it in a while. I hear the condition is getting better.

I played Battleground on 7/4, and I have to agree. I was really impressed with the condition of the course. Last time I played there was a few years ago. That time, the course was a goat ranch, no grass on the greens, and fairways were horrible. In the last couple of years, they have definitely done something right with regards to maintenance. the greens were smooth and rolling well. I took a 10 on #8 (my 17th hole since they started us on #10), and still managed an 81. I swore off Battleground last time I played it, but being the 4th, we couldnt get an early tee time anywhere else (I didnt look for one until about 9pm Sunday evening), and now I'm glad I couldnt.

We played this morning. Front was The Pines - Fairways appeared even dryer (vs 3 weeks ago) despite the recent rain, and the greens obviously aerated within the last week. Our back nine, Timber Trails, was in much better condition with the greens lush, running true, but very very slow. My guess is they'll be aerated within the week.

Did not play Timbercreek when originally planned but did play it this past weekend. Overall, considering how dry it has been, the course was in pretty good shape. There are some serious monster earth cracks in the rough but if you stayed in the fairways...no problem at all.

I played there Sunday, and have to agree. The course conditioning overall was quite good. The greens were quick, smooth, and consistent. The fairways had good green grass in them. The monster cracks that I saw were not wide enough to swallow a ball, but there sure were a ton of them, and if your ball was sitting in one of them, you had pretty much no chance of getting it out in the direction or distance you intended. My golfing buddy and I have set a rule in place that we get relief from the cracks. Thankfully, I didnt find any of them Sunday.

We played yesterday and agree the overall course condition was quite good. However, I will say that the greens were extremely slow. If I were to guess I'd say they would be <4.5' on the Stimpmeter. I like the course and always score well (shot a 76 yesterday), but I wish the green had a bit more pace to them.

Don't forget they offer free golf for the 7 days before and 7 days after your birthday. All that is required is to pay the $14 cart fee. Great deal! :clapping:
