would this fix scratches on crown of 910

the "fix it" pen for car scratches

I just got my custom made 910 d3 but i see to somewhat deep scratches on the crown (not hairline scratches). i don't know why... i don't think they would need to use the head for any adjustments.

anyway. i have the "fix it" pro pen for scratches on cars.. does anyone know if this will or will not work?

Don't think you'll have much luck other than getting refinished. Did you scratch it or the shop who customized it? If they did it I would demand a replacement.

i just took it home.. took the plastic off and noticed the new marks

I would be at that shop in the morning when the doors open. They WOULD replace it or I would show my A@# right in the middle of the store!!!

That's why I always take the plastic off of new clubs before leaving the store on the rare occasion I buy new. Take it back in without hitting any balls beforehand and show it to them. See if they'll warranty it. Be prepared for them to say they'll have to ship it back though, cause stores can't just swap heads around when new cause the serials are matched head and shaft (meaning their tied together, not that they are the same). I tried to get them to swap heads on a 910f and Fd because they had the Fd head I wanted but the shaft I wanted wasn't available in the Fd head. They had the shaft in an f in the same loft but couldn't swap them around because of that.

you can try some car wax or mild cleaner wax on it

That's a real bummer. If they won't take it back try Scratch X. It's a very mild wax/rubbing compound. I've used it successfully before. You may have to apply it a lot of times...it depends on the scratches...but it's worked for me with light scratches.

Not sure if this is true. Roger Dunn in So Cal lets you swap shafts/heads.

I would take it back. It can not hurt an for the money you dropped on a custom club they should stand behind their product. If they say no then you can try the other options but start with them.

The one thing I noticed when I have touched up a club is that the black ends up looking like a dark gray in the sun so just be wary of that. I have successfully used auto touchup paint and a buffing wheel with a clay bar and finished with a carnuba auto wax for polish.

I've tried car polishes and waxing on a 909 head. If the scratches aren't too deep it can help but it will not remove them. Only way is to get it refinished.

I have used a mild rubbing compound (Turtle Wax brand) to remove smudges in the clearcoat from the occasional ball high on the face. Followed up with car wax for shine.

+1 One of our local Edwin Watts store lets you swap heads/shaft on the 910 Titleist drivers, fairways and hybrids.

compound wont remove anything that you can feel with your fingernail.

it will need to be refinished or wetsanded, compounded, polished etc.

if theyre light scratches in the surface of the clear, then a compound will help to remove them.

I've fixed chips on both of my brother's drivers. I filled it with paint chip paint that matched best until a little bubble was present, sanded it with 1500-2000grit paper and then polished it out with Mequiars 205 on a Makita 9227C polisher.
