Yea it's weird how Titleist is going to release clubs JUST as the season is ending...I guess they want to you to hit the range in the winter.

All blades play FAIRLY similarly in terms of loft, height, trajectory, and distance (assuming the same shafts). The different is the feel, which you won't be able to judge until they release the 712 MBs. But I'm a Titleist ho waiting for the 712 MBs. In the meantime, I'm playing x protos. But I will order a set of 712 MBs with Project X 6.5s the day it comes out.

yea Im pretty sure the Titleist 712 MB's will feel very similar if not the same as the Titleist 710 MB irons. They said they wanted to keep them nearly the same because of their success, they changed the sole a bit and slight cosmetic stuff with a satin chrome finish. I think the ap2's might feel a little different though. So I guess I could hit the 710's and see if I like the feel. The 712's do look alot better than the 710s in the MB's

Don't forget that Titleist said they were progressively reducing the size of the blade as it goes through the set, as in the PW will be smaller than the PW of the 710 (hopefully like the cobra pro mb)

really, where did you see that? thats kinda cool

"The long irons are about the same size," said Chris McGinley, Titleist's vice president of golf club marketing. "But as you go through the set, we brought the blade size down. That lets us make the long irons more forgiving and the short irons more traditional."

the cobra Pro MB has a really small PW head compared to most other OEM MBs. If the 712 is anything similar to the Cobra, this will be a big plus.

I agree with LSam that the 712's are the best looking blades they've put out in years. The placing of the font is absolutely perfect and the satin is to die for.

With that said, I've always felt that the Titleist blades looked a little too shallow from leading edge to the top of the club at address and didn't like the clicky feeling of the club. I'm playing the Taylormade MB irons currently and think the irons have a smooth buttery feel the Titleist doesn't have. I'd say wait to hit both before you decide.

I could see those 712 cb's in my life in the future, but I doubt that they offer anything over the 690cb's I am currently hitting. Wish the 690's were satin though...To me the Taylormade irons don't really compare, mainly because I like the look of the Titleist so much more.

I have always loved the look of titleist blades and felt that they were the most traditional looking irons out there. That being said as much as i have wanted to game a set of titleist MB's i have never been able to get myself to like the feel of their irons. The MB's have always felt a bit clicky and too firm for me. The TMAG MB's have a softer and more appealing feel. However it is just my opinion and there is no better way to decide than to hit both irons and decide which ones you like. :D what a great dilemma to have!

This was an old thread, Im playing the R11 irons right now. I was at the BMW this weekend and I noticed that the Taylormade MB's did have a more soft muted sound when striking the ball, the titleist's had more of a click noise. I saw a video of Nick Watney talking about the new 712 AP2's and he said they have more of a clicky sound than the 710's, I watched him on the range next to dustin j. hitting and they definitely had a click sound compared to the Taylormade's Dustin was using. I guess its whatever you like in sound, I dont mind clicky.

Both will perform basically identical but it comes down to personal preference as to which one feels and looks best. For me its the Titleists by far. That weight in the TM is ugly.:russian_roulette:

Titleist 818H2 Tensei White

I dont mind the weight, I actually think the Taylormade MB's look pretty good and the COG is right where its suppose to be because of the weight.

I really like small scoring irons. I don't know if it's mental, but I swear the smaller they are the more accurate they become. I would have no issue playing hybrids through my 7 iron, or like G20s, but having nail drivers for short irons is a necessity.

I am limited in my decision because they don't have the TP MB in lefty, but the MCs felt nice. For the 712, it's hard to compare another blade to the feel of the 690s. Hopefully they will be close! The feel was so great.

thinking of upgrading to a new set of irons soon. Which do you think will be the better set of the two. Really like the Taylormade MB but I like how the new 712 MB irons look as well. Just dont know if its worth waiting till the golf season is over for the titleists, you know.

You are taking about pure blades here so technology really has no impact. Obviously it comes down to look at address and feel. But I would wait for the 712's to come out so you can put the club in your hands and give it a test run. By waiting you could also compare the 712's to the 710's if you like the Titleists which are the exact same club minus the finish (chrome 710 / satin 712). That way you could save yourself some $$ as the 710's are gonna drop in price once the 712's hit the market.
