I talked to the guy I buy clubs from and he told me PW loft on the MP 69 is 46 degrees. I am glad I got the MP 68. I am really tired of this trend of the ever increasingstrong loft. When I got my set of Wilson Staff remakes in the 1980's, the 9 iron was 46 degrees. A few years before that, Powerbilt had a 48 degree 9 iron and 52 degree PW. Wilson's old standards were 47 degree 9 iron and 51 degree PW. MP 68 was 47 degree PW. This is getting absolutely ridiculous. The PW is no longer a PW and is too strong lofted for what its purpose is. I will not be buying any new irons in the future as a result and will get some older clubs refurbished. I absolutely hate this trend. However, I do look forward to the 15 degree PW at some point that I can use as a 1 iron as they are no longer made.

That's funny.
I have my PW at 45 degrees, because it still goes sky high. It really does. Must be the new, modern balls as compared to the balata and rubber cores.

It doesn't matter what the face angle is, when you're comparing different sets = you have to pick and use one that suits your way of hitting the ball at the trajectory, landing and spin that you enjoy that you can control. You can custom anything anyway you want, now, so what's the problem? Then you throw in 3 wedges or whatever, when back in the day most only had a SW. But they sure had 5/ 4, 3/2, and 1 wood on the other end, instead. I still have an older set that never had a PW. It only went from 3-9.

IMO loft of the old wedges for PW is proper loft for pitches and usage around the green. Head size will not be the same for longer irons vs loft. Absolutely hate the new style of clubs.

Courses are getting longer and longer. I think that is the reason for making the lofts so strong. The us open was 6900 yards in 85 and almost 7500 for 2011. That's about 35 yards per hole difference or a 2 club difference on your approach. So over time my guess is a club difference because of technology and a club from loft have made it still the same number club on the approach

Yes, obsessed. Satin or the Nickel. The European models of the 53 and 63 have the option of Satin in the 53 and Nickel in the 63. Either would be nice for the 59.

I was at the range today and the Mizzy rep happened to stop by to show my buddy at the pro shop some new fitting system software. After talking a few about the new line. He was kind enough to walk back to his car and brought back a bag with 4, 6, 8, and PW - 59 and 69's shafted with S300 for me to demo. I hit about 15-20 balls each. What a treat! I was a huge mizzy fan back in the day. For forgotten reasons I switched to Titleist.. uh and a few others :secret: Well anyway here's my concise review.. :yahoo:
First of, I just want to say that they finally got it right this time. Both sets look to have less offset with thinner topline than previous models. Loved my MP14's, MP33's, MP30's and 57's but hated that buldge on the hosel midway down in the short irons particularly the PW. Not these.. Both sets are buttery soft of course typical of mizzy forging. 59's somewhat muted tho. Not sure if that's the correct word to describe it.. Nothing bad, just maybe the effect of that hollowed out part in the cavity where the 20 gram weight sits in? Albeit, pleasure to hit, easy to get used to. The 59's flight was much higher than I expected too. Would love to try em with different shafts maybe. What blew me away was the 69!! My oh my.. havent been excited like that in a very long time.. Look at address is divine.. Looks a lil longer heel to toe, not excessive. Almost like MP14's and 33's hooked up and gave birth to 69's. If youre an old school Mizzy fan like me.. this set is for you. I know forgiving and blades dont go together in a sentence. But these bad boys are shuweet! I went after every shot after shot. Most went dead straight. Misses just pushed right which I dont mind at all. Better than my usual bananas left. Totally impressive for my mediocre ball striking! 69's lives up to its name.. I'd hit it all day.
Overall, I can totally see myself sporting a combo set of these in the future.. Sucky part is the rep told me retail for 69's is $900 which is average but 59's are $1200!

With the same playing profile and offset as its predecessor, the MP-69 takes few risks with its Tour following. A slightly more pronounced toe is a feature influenced from Mizuno's original Japanese models (last seen in the MP-32).

SAME profile as the 68, which means that it has the annoying off-set. If you're a right-handed guy, all you have to do is grab a left-handed one and immediately you will be SHOCKED to see that it has THAT MUCH OFF-SET. Yup.

And it's supposed to be even more forgiving than the 68 (but only very slightly) - which means it is NOT as workable as people think, in the traditional sense of workable blades - it'll help you hit it straighter.

I must have hit over 100 balls at the range this afternoon, with my 69's and i can tell anyone here who wants them , GO buy them over the 59's ! im normally a slight fader of the ball, and after a week of these now in the bag and countless balls, i dont know what they have done but now my balls are going straight and even a slight draw and ive made not one set up change

IMHO Mizzy have got this right !

Yeah, that's the effect of the OFF-SET, along with a heavier heel and lighter toe area. For me, it looks like a HOOK machine compared to ones that have less off-set.

Maybe i have fine tuned my swing in week but the Difference in the 68's and 69's is remarkable, and yes im a single digit handicapper anyway but IMHO the 69's are devine !
