He's on track to match it.

If you compare Tiger's and Jack's respective major victories and age, you'll find they are almost identical. Jack won 14 between the age of 22 and 35 - that's one a year. Tiger has done the same.

Then things slowed down for Jack. He then won one at 38, two at 40, and his final one at 46. So after the age of 35 he had major wins in just three years.

Things have slowed down for Tiger too. He won't carry on winning one a year. But over the next ten years I can see him getting four or five. It's no gimme, but he could easily get his game together. He'll probably get his 19th at Augusta at the age of 52 or something, as a fitting final chapter to an amazing career.

I'm not sure I really care anymore... But I do want to see him in the hunt... He just too entertaining.

The thing is... Good or bad, this was Tigers goal and now it has become the yardstick by which EVERYONE will measure his success by... In away it too bad he has certainly rewrote professional golf as we know it.

My only reget is that I wasn't tuned into golf eariler to see all of it unfold. I was guilty of thinking nothing could change the momentum he had...

i used to think people jumped the gun on these threads, but i mean, now who really knows???

after Jack's 36th birthday he won 4 majors. And i believe Tiger has more depth to deal with then Jack did, not to mention his game is in shambles right now

Scandal or recent golf troubles aside i do not have any doubt that Tiger is the best golfer of our generation , no other golfer since Bobby Jones was the holder of all the major's at one time except for Tiger and i do not believe it will happen again in my lifetime , i sure though hope that both physically and mentally he has the strength to win 5 more majors and break Sam Snead's record for the most victories , usually i do not really care about the haters and their comments for any athlete but for this athlete i sure hope Tiger slams the haters and put them right back in their place .

Don't think he'll do it. Biggest sports flame out in history. All because he let the little head do the thinking. Now the big head is completely F'd up. You can almost see it in his eyes during the post round interviews
I ride the fence as a fan. I'm not a Tiger hater.
He was able to do things in golf, under pressure, that no one else has ever nor will ever do. But 12 years is a long time to dominate this game. And no one ever did it like Tiger. Best golfer ever. Even if he doesn't break Jack's record.
Too bad he turned out to be such a ******.

Would have said no more majors, but you didn't give that option. His swing looks lumbering, with all that up and down motion. Some of the younger guy's swings like Rory look so much better and more consistent. I may be biased though because I don't like his manners on or off the golf course.

Whoa - cute pup in that avatar.

I also think the loss of Stevie is a bigger deal than most people thought. I never thought a caddy could make a big difference but Adam Scott is leading against a very good field. If Adam wins tomorrow then is may be evidence. I used to think Stevie was a loud mouth but he may be a Bob Rotella character for Adam. Helping to give Adam a lot more more confidence.

Tiger? Well if there had been a cutline at the Firestone WGC - he would have been right on the cut line. Journeyman players usually miss the cut.

Pretty much my thoughts too

Even if he gets it going at Augusta one year, I don't think his clutch putting is good enough to close it out

He's holed more than a career's worth of amazing putts, but sadly, I think his major-winning days are over.

He raised the bar and raised it very high, it must be said. However, there are plenty of genuine contenders lined up who are already good enough to hold him off. They are still on the way up and will get better over the next 10 years or so; Tiger is going the other way,,,,

Yes, even though I'm not a fan, considering his attitude.

Even when he was at outrageous pace I always thought Tiger would get to 19 or 20 and not beyond that. Major lifetime sports records are seldom destroyed. Tiger avoids bogeys and so many majors are won close to Even par. He has considerably greater opportunity to stay closer to his lifetime winning percentage in majors than in typical events, where the young guys will rack up 4 low rounds that Tiger won't often match unless he's at peak form.

The par 72 courses like Augusta are still his best bet, followed by 71. Next week at Atlanta is par 70.

Tiger controls ball flight and patiently deals with the elements so well he should be good for another win or two in the British. I'm more confident about that event and the Masters than the other two.

well at the minute i cant see it but there has been a few top pros who have lost it then come back and started to win and show good form again so even though i dont like him i respect what he has done for golf so i hope he goes on and does it

My favorite...

"Well Tiger and Jack are comparable age wise and blah blah blah..."

Yes we get it. Did Jack have a leg that had been injured 6 times? Was he on his 4th different swing? Had he been public humiliated? Did he show signs of being mentally destroyed? Did he have to wear terrible looking shoes? Did he completely lose his putting game?

Woods hasn't won a major in 3 years. Remember the last time he was in contention, he choked away a final round lead to an unknown golfer.

These comparisons of Woods career to Nicklaus and the assumptions that they are somehow running parallel is beyond absurd. Nicklaus was the greatest ever, Woods will finish as the second greatest ever. It's that simple. That's not a bad career when you think about it.

It is certainly within the realm of possible since he will have many more opportunities to win more majors, personally I don't care if he breaks the record or not.

I used to really think and hope that tiger would do it. At his peak I believe he was the best ever, but the greatest career? No. Jack will still be king of the hill when the dust settles, what he did over the length of his career will not be matched. I truly believe that if injuries will not end tiger's career then complacency will. I don't see tiger staying around if he goes a couple more years without winning a tournament or contending in the majors, he is too arrogant to just be a middle of the road player. Whatever happens though, even if tiger is remembered as the best player, jack will still have been the better man, and that is what truly matters.

What an incredibly original topic. Can't believe someone else hasn't thought of this.

Simple solution then, don't click on the thread and open it. New people join all the time with new thoughts and ideas, and older members may finally decide to chime in with their thoughts. Have there been a plethera of these threads, yes, but obviously people still have thoughts on the subject matter, so it must still be a relevant topic.

Personally, I don't care if it's the 50th thread on the topic, I enjoy reading others opinions. If its a topic I am indifferent about, I just don't open it, then it doesn't aggravate me.

Oh, and by the way, I'm good with Tiger winning three more majors, then that is enough.

If you dont like it dont read it!

Seems like alot of other people like it and responded. Say what you want Tiger is still the most interesting golfer in golf.
