Scotland Dream trip - where are my clubs??!!

Hi All,

Need help!!

So after my dream trip - awesomeness, I think I made a mistake - and need some help!

Long story short - I overestimated the amount of souvenirs I was going to buy. So I decided to send my golf bag with the souvenirs home at the Mailboxes etc store. The owner, who processed the transaction, said the order is as follows: Ups will come pick up your clubs, you get by email the tracking number, and follow it home. Only problem is that after one week, I don't have a tracking number and therefore no clubs. I have called and left messages, and emails, even called UPS (but they can't help because they only work with tracking numbers)

Can someone give me some clues, help, hope????

PS, I met a guy staying at the same BB and he did the exact same thing and he told me he got his clubs in 5 days (we emailed each other).

Ops and I forgot....the owner hasn't returned my messages or emails.

I think unless and until you get in touch with the person to whom you handed your clubs and money you have zero options from 5,000 miles away. Of course by some miracle the stuff might show up way, way late. But basically you have got to find a way to talk to the person you dealt with. Big bummer.

That said, the guy may be on holiday for a week or two or three. This being August which is major holiday time in the UK. He also may not be returning calls because he doesn't want to spring for the international toll charges. Do you happen to know of anyone on that side of the ocean who can chip in with trying to get the bloke on the phone?

Sorry to hear about your problem. I work in St Andrews and had to call at the mailboxes shop today and there's a notice on the door saying that it is closed on 8th, 9th and 10th August due to a local holiday. If you've been calling then they won't answer because there's no-one around. I had to go to the post office instead.

Hopefully the guy in the shop will be able to help you out when he's back. I've been in the store a few times when people have been sending their clubs home and he seems to go out of his way to offer advice- I'm sure he'll do what he can to help.

My trip there was 10 days, and I was in Mailboxes etc everyone of those days. I got to know the owner and yes, he was an awesome guy. BUT....
Now thanks for giving me some hope about being a holiday.....
But I am preparing for the worst as all this should have been rectified the week BEFORE...

And for Fourmyle of Ceres - I know, I know...already planning what to say to my insurance company and I've come to deal with the fact that I've lost all the souvenirs I put in there....the clubs are kind of secondary - can get new clubs, but those souvenirs are....were priceless

Whenever I've shipped my clubs home from a Mail Boxes etc or local shipping store, I've filled out the FEDEX or UPS form myself and taken the top copy. I'm not sure how you left the store without a tracking number, unless they have a totally different system in the UK.

The process was....fill out the form - yes - but I didn't get a copy . I should have taken a copy but it didn't matter because - the owner told me that I would only get a tracking number once the ups guy picks it up.
WTF!!!! I am wondering if I was screwed somewhere or if they are still in the store???

Unless it's different there than it is here, you should get a tracking number when the shipping label is printed. Not when the UPS guy comes. The number might not be trackable until it's picked up and scanned, but you should have got a number when you paid. Can't believe you didn't get a receipts. Something seems odd.

Every time I've shipped anything via FEDEX or UPS, the top copy belongs to the customer - whether I've done it from my house, a MBE or other store, Kinkos, etc. Again, possibly the form is different from the UK, but having shipped so many things I would not leave a store without a copy. Until the item is scanned in by the driver you won't get any tracking updates, but you have a number to work with.

If you ship things very infrequently you wouldn't know that, though, so I understand your situation.

I would think you should've had a tracking # with some sort of receipt before you left the shop. Certainly hope the holiday thing is all that's going on. That would leave a sour taste in the mouth after a great trip. Hope things work out for you.

All is 'almost' fine in the world again.

The problem turned out to be a virus in the store's IP - that's why they couldn't contact me. And they were closed on the days I tried to contact them - thanks to skyetom for giving me that info so I didn't TOTALLY freak out. And they didn't use UPS, they used their local mail (explains the delay).
Called them today, they answered, I got my tracking number and the clubs are in my city. Just waiting for arrival

Thanks for all of your help and concern ....I'm finding out that this is a great community (just needed some adversity to find that out)

Great news, really pleased to hear you got your stuff back. It would have been a cr@ppy end to your holiday if the gifts & souvenirs had gone astray.
