those are the accomplishments in golf that should be reconized , i believe getting them are much harder than a hole in one .. well done by the way !

One minor quibble - I'm not keen when people call it a 'double eagle'. It's an 'albatross'. Does anyone know why it is called a 'double eagle' in the States? After all it's an 'eagle', not a 'double birdie'. Just wondering why?

I see what ya mean though. Taken literally, a "double eagle" would mean -4 on a hole. But that's a Condor.

Same exact yardage I made mine from...went driver then 5i from 204...in a 'ryder cup' format tournament at my club.

I looked up the odds of a hole-in-one and an albatross: Ace is 3,400 : 1 to 12,500 : 1 depending on skill. An albatross is 1,000,000 : 1 regardless of skill level. Wow.

Never had one myself, but I did Eagle a Par 4 once (years ago). On a super hilly course in Atlanta, the tee was elevated above the fairway, but the green was even higher than the tee (if that makes sense). Second shot went up the hill, over the brim. Couldn't find my ball *anywhere*. I totally felt like I hit an excellent shot, so I was very bummed that my ball was lost. My buddy asked if I checked the cup, and I was like "yeah, man, whatever". He walked over and said "you're playing a DDH-III, number 4 right?" and tossed me my ball. I was floored.

I've gotten darn close a few times, and narrowly missed an albatross once (hit the stick, lipped my first putt and was sorely disappointed with birdie for the first time in my life!). Hope I get more like those!

That's awesome congrat's! I've been close, my buddy got one a couple years ago holed out from about 230 yards!
