Cobra-Puma Golf "Trusty Rusty" Wedge Spy Pics!!!

In Rust We Trust...

Cobra Golf is releasing the Trusty Rusty again. We have not received all the details yet. As a matter of fact we receive the box unannounced at the offices. The wedge is pre-rusted finish. Was a satin with pre-rusted score lines and black PVD finish, each with a non-plated finish that is 7% softer than chrome to allow it to rust even more over time. This is a sample and not submitted to USGA yet.

I like the look of the wedge, myself. I am interested in hearing more with regards to the finish, though. It was my understanding that a PVD finish can only be applied over a hard chrome plate or high polish SS. With those factors, the rust would not even be in play.
But, as you mentioned, this arrived unannounced and details are very few and very hard to get additional information.

Wish they had the original sole grind of the first ones. They were adaptable to any condition. The first ones were quite small headed as well. Much smaller than the original forged cavity backs they came out with.. Wonder if Phil Rodgers had anything to do with these--I think he did the first go around...

It was actually Phil Rogers that designed these wedges back in the day if I remember correctly.

Hmmm. The head itself looks nice, but I'm not sure that name and scheme will have a lot of appeal. Just my opinion. I'm a big Cobra fan as well and would like to see some serious wedges from them.

Phil Rogers did indeed design the original Trusty Rusty's. Wonder if he's had any input on these or if they're just "influenced" by the original design?

The Trusty Rusty's were hugely popular on tour back in the day...

Man, I was excited when I saw this post. I loved the Trusty Rusty but was disappointed to see the face on these and the head shape from address. Curious to see what they look like at address in person.

Looks like an old trusted friend....gotta love the rusty finish..I remember gaming the originals when I lived in England...they rusted up really well with the damp climate over there...old school..dig em...
