Impact Position and Other Problems

Looking for some advice

Here is a video of my swing. My two swing thoughts for this swing were

1. Don't rotate left forearm on way back (life long problem)

2. Post better on my left leg I as slide way too far forward.

There are 2 faceon and 2 DTL swings in the video. All swings with hybrid.

First thing I noticed was my Impact position is terrible. I also noticed my left knee moves way too much on my backswing.


I also rotate my left forearm too much still


The 1st thing I am going to do is flair my left foot out and have my knee point about 45 degrees. I am thinking this might also fix my overswinging on my backswing.

What other tips and drills would be helpful? I always wonder if my shoulder turn is steep enough?

put the ball in the middle of your vision at address. steeper shoulders. followthrough and wrist flexion need the most work on the downswing and followthrough.

First off, your left forearm rotates fine...and you DO NOT slide your hips too much. This whole "posting up" thing is entirely over rated.

Your bad impact position is mainly the result of a back swing that is too long.

You could also use some more tilt behind the ball at address.

I am no expert and I likely should not be giving advice, so take mine with a grain of salt:

The first thing that I said when watching the video was "HOLY ****". Your backswing is longer than route 66.

That's all that I have.

Your over swing a ton. Way to much hip turn, right knee straightens, shoulders turn like 130 degrees. Power leak.

Agreed. Hips won't turn so much.

Tilt your spine away from the target from torso to neck and turn around it. Do not send your upper spine towards the target on the back swing (i.e slouch left) You don't need so much weight on your left foot at address when hitting a hybrid/wood.
Forearm rotation is just dandy.

Pretty good action though for that long swing.

Golf is such a wonderfully frustrating game.

Go the range today. swings thought for the day.


DO NOT OVERSWING. I was going to do this by quieting my legs, don't turn my hips as much, keeping my left forearm on my chest and turn my shoulders steeper.


Things seem to be working good, hitting a very good ball with good distance. At that point I decided to bring out the camera to capture the new swing so I have a record.

Get home view the video and its the same ^%$#%$#$% swing as before, couldn't believe my eyes, it felt so different.
