SPOILERS!!
So they've teed off and I just opened up shot tracker to see how my fantasy team (Luke, DJ, Webb, Jason, Adam and Cameron) are doing and it's showing the first drive of Dustin Johnson 359 yards to the green 34ft from hole. Impressive - until you see Webb Simpson 370 yards to the green 1'9" from the hole!! Fireworks are go I reckon.....

I've come to the conclusion that nobody gives two chuffs about the FedEx Cup.

I will predict that there will only be more comments here (than the crucial table tennis thread) when someone gets a dubious ruling, or grounds their club in a hazard, or switches to a different putter, or "calls someone out", or criticises the course, or throws their driver into the crowd in disgust etc etc.

Heaven forbid any of the actual golf shots will be be deemed worthy of comment.

OK rant over - I'm off to follow some golf - or maybe some table tennis....

Well prior to the Fedex cup nobody cared about any of the tournaments after the last major of the year so this is an upgrade I think.

Well, perhaps one day...I can only dream and hope...the powers that be will notice PGArox's brilliant and simple idea to end every PGA TOUR season with a major, the PGA Championship.

It probably will never happen because it's just too logical and brilliant.

It's good to see Bradley use the major win as a stepping stone rather than a millstone. So often a big "out of left field" success is followed by indifference.

From an English point of view - nice to see Justin back at the top of a leaderboard.

DJ, 2 gloves, Bubba, Jhonny Vegas, Watney.... it's performances like this weekend that stop them being the dominant force in golf.

Luke had a nightmare first round but dragged it back yesterday.

Who will take this? 3 Aussies in the top 10 with Badds, Leish, Day and Scott way back. Apart from that it's all red white and blue other than the English Rose.

In Keegan Bradley's case, I think his pedigree and teaching will prevent the indifference. I don't expect world dominance, but I'd be surprised if he did not become a regular force in golf...a yearly winner.

As for Justin Rose, after his solid and steady 2007 I thought for sure he was on his way. Then he wins twice on the PGA TOUR during the summer of 2010, and I thought a consistent winner had emerged. But Justin disappears for long periods of time. It really is quite frustrating because he's a likable, stylish guy who really adds something good to the TOUR. He could use a victory this week.

And it is very unfortunate that so many top shelf guys couldn't muster their best games this week.

I think this is a pretty accurate conclusion. I know I don't care about it.

I'm looking at this tournament as just a regular TOUR event, albeit with a strong field. Really, the main things these final two elite-field events will decide are Player Of The Year and Money Title.

With one round to go it looks like this title is Justin's to win, or lose. If you look at his tournament stats, he's getting less accurate with his ball-striking as the event progresses, although he continues to putt well. His short game has been solid as well.

This course really is beating most of these guys up, even with the benign conditions. Most of the field is struggling to return a score in the low 70's. Makes you appreciate the performances of Justin Rose and Geoff Ogilvy, who are the only two guys with three rounds in the 60's.

Love watching tough courses! Cog Hill playing really difficult now
Yeah, this course now puts an extreme on accuracy and distance control, especially with the irons. It really tightens the screws if you take yourself out of position.

Throw in rain, and soggy four inch rough, and it's definitely all most of these guys can handle.

He may have to change his name to Mr Top Five....
In watching the action it is clear to see that most of these guys too frequently attempt to bite off more than they can chew, and they can look pretty bad. And the failed attempt really does impact their state of mind, often causing slides down the leaderboard.

Luke Donald refuses to get sucked into that game. He keeps his head, and plays to his strengths. The man knows his limitations. The result is a TOUR-leading 12 Top Tens after today.

Rose is trying his best to give up yet another 54-hole lead.

Very impressive from Donald, almost identical year to Kuchar last year. Who'll get PGA Tour player of the year? Surely Donald has to win in at East Lake to get it? I doubt he'll get the vote with no strokeplay wins.

It's certainly closer than it should've been but it's shaping up to actually be an exciting finish.

strong finish in the end from rose, well played.

good performance from ogilvy too given his need for a 3rd or better finish for presidents cup

Congrats to Justin Rose on a hard-earned victory. It was a fight, but Justin turned into a warrior and came through when he needed it most. His tee shot at the 72nd hole was a beautiful thing.

Good on Geoff Ogilvy, as we knew how very important a trip to Royal Melbourne is for him.

As for the amazingly consistent Luke Donald, I think I'll do a little research to find the last time a golfer won the PGA TOUR's Player Of The Year award with only one victory. I really can't imagine anyone else being more deserving than Luke this year.

Just watched Justin's press conference. Very good stuff. If you're into Justin, or you're interested in the behind-the-scenes which shape a player's game, do a search at pgatour.com for Justin's presser.

Justin said he and his caddy attempted to simplify things this week, and eliminate the peripheral stimuli. For one thing, Justin did not carry a yardage book for the first time in his pro career. And they greatly reduced the numbers they considered on shots.

Justin also said a few rounds of golf with some buddies, while the TOUR was off last week, reminded him to have more fun competing...to just enjoy playing the game...instead of getting all wrapped up in the hype and expectations of life on TOUR.

We'll see how long Justin can hold on to these thoughts and feelings.

This was a great tournament..... not only the fight for the title, but everyone else having their own battles for President Cup places and/or Tour championship. Loved all the sub plots.

Congrats to Justin ...winning wire to wire is sooo much harder than sneaking over the line at the last gasp..... in my opinion.

Loved his little dance on the 18th and who could not be charmed by his low five with his kiddie.....
