Adams 9088 UL driver review and thoughts

I got a chance hit one of adams' newer drivers yesterday and, needless to say, I am intrigued. First off I have a SS around 110 with a quick tempo and an AoA around 0. I hit a 9.5* head with the stock Matrix radix shaft in stiff flex. I am extremely impressed! Even though I knew that the shaft was too weak and there was more loft than I prefer it was still a great feeling club. I averaged about 284 into the vector . My spin was a little high ( combination of loft and flex), but it just felt great! The most remarkable thing was that every shot I hit was kind of a pull draw, every single one, and I fight a slice!

From a looks standpoint I quite like it as well. I, like a lot of WRXer's thought that it looked cheap on the pictures that I saw. Pictures don't do it justice. The finish makes the head look smaller than it actually is (which is always a plus for me. The all blue shaft matches up very well with the gray/black head as well.

Bottom line I would encourage anyone to demo this driver. Grip to head I found it one of the best feeling and looking drivers that I have ever hit. I reccomend this to slivers because I feel that the grip under the weight a the light swingweight give the head a little natural draw bias.

Adams, if you read this come out with an 8.5 degree head in x flex so that I can have one of these beasts!!

I have always been a proponent of stout heavy driver shafts. Playing a 73x whiteboard in an FT Tour currently with no prior plans to switch. Tried the 9088 UL with stock matrix stiff almost on a dare and after 2 rounds I am a believer. I was blowing it by my gamer all day with the most gorgeous ballflight. The club is well-balanced. The shaft felt very stable with no ballooning. The head is explosive and sounded great. it definitely got my attention. The LP 3 wood is also quite good, though the shaft on it was a touch loose for me. I NEVER thought this combo would be a good fit for me, but I've been wrong before, I guess. Definitely don't ignore this one.

Sellingers will sell you most lofts from 4.0 and up. Any shaft you like, you'll just have to pay for it.

But you can't get the radix shaft, you have to get an LD one if I'm correct and the driver head is also red and black

Also, 4 degrees is effing insane lol

I picked up a 9088 UL 9.5 (neutral) at the PGA Superstore in Atlanta last night (no demo...just had some gift certificates burning a hole in my pocket). I agree with several posts about this driver - it has a hot face and for such a light shaft it really has a nice balance to it. Played 9 holes with it today and was very impressed with this driver. Several folks posted that it felt a little harsh...I didn't have the harse feel. For a 9.5 I thought it launched a tad bit higher but that's probably due to the lighter shaft. Not going to claim it's X yards longer than my gamer (Razr Tour 9.5 with a true Xcon6) but I hit some bombs with it today and guess that it's 5-10 yards longer. Windy day in Atlanfa today and this driver performed well info a decent headwind. Was concerned with accuracy given the 46 inch shaft but it wasnt difficult to control. I recommend folks give this driver a look.

if you cut it down to 45" how much would the headweight change? Is it gonna have to be hotmelted to get the swingweight back to a reasonable number? REALLY want to hit this.

Rule of thumb is about 12 grams per inch shortened. Not sure how this is affected by the extra long light shafts of recent drivers.

I picked up this driver in 9.5 with stock stiff Matrix 4.1 shaft. Immediately it cut it down 1.5 inches to 44.5 and put a Pure wrap grip on it.

I took it out this past week. It was cold and course wasn't crowded so I hit 2 drives on most holes against my Cobra ZL 9.5 with ProjectX 6.

The 9088 felt great and I got some drives a good 10-15yds past my ZL. I was impressed, especially for a stock offerring at $199 new. The only thing I didn't like is the face has a rounded look and isn't square at address like the ZL. Maybe, that's just me but it didn't square up to the target as easily.
