Wood Wind Golf Club - Westfield, IN

Anyone played this course? They are offering memberships for $1500/yr, including your cart. Driven by it a couple times and it looks pretty nice, but am curious if its worth getting the membership. Its a public course, and worried that perhaps its too busy to enjoy a membership. Or are there better options for memberships at any private clubs in the nearby area for junior members?

I've played there before - can't really comment on how busy it is, I did a chamber of commerce event, but nonetheless, I thought it was a pretty nice course. There were a couple of really fun holes on that course moreso than other courses I've played.

I know of one course that's a little nicer, it's called Crooked Stick and the initiation fee is only $39k

If I lived on the northside and made a little more, I would be willing to pay $1500 for cart + green fees at that course.

I don't know what Sagamore golf club rates are, but I've heard from others that it's a great course. I think it's $2500 which is quite a bit more.

I live 5 minutes away from there, but only play it a few times a year. It does get very busy and the play can get slow. The course is ok, the first 4-5 holes are kinda boring, straight back and forth. I don't know how much you play, but for $1500 I could play alot of nicer course with just the daily fees ; Trophy Club, Bearslide, The Fort....

I guess it depends on what you want, but I wouldn't do it. You might ask around, Woodland CC is having some very attractive offers for membership, nice Pete Dye course at 116th and Keystone.

As someone who used to live in the Carmel/Westfield area, there are other, better alternatives. I agree with the above post regarding Woodland.

My biggest complaint with Wood Wind is pace of play. They have made a push through junior clinics and what not to attract younger golfers. This is a great thing, but you will see a lot of afternoons and weekends where the course is bogged down with family foursomes that are tremendously slow. I've walked off that course a time or two on nice summer weekends. I don't go there now unless its early or less than ideal weather.

A little busy and can receive some wear by the end of the season but a really nice mix of holes and a respectable practice area.

I checked on woodland. It looks really nice, but it's $400/mo plus food minimums. Just more than I'm willing to pay. In addition to a $3k initiation.

I just joined Broadmoor and love it $225 a month plus $75F&B no initiation. very solid deal.

Played yesterday morning. interesting layout....pretty decent variation. A lot of water, including a creek you play over several times. A few holes where the creek is right at normal driving distance...so you either need to bust a good one, or layup with something other than driver. Not crazy about that, but does make you think rather than just blast.

Course was in great shape, with the exception of a few greens that were a bit rough.
they did roll very quick and smooth for the most part though. I'll go back likely.

They just started offering monthly memberships for $140...unlimited including cart. I'm going to give it a try for at least one month and see how it goes. $30 gets you unlimited range, and they have a pretty good one.

If anyone wants to play out there, let me know. I've got some discount coupons due for you.

Do they really have a caddy program? That seems like a huge committment for that kind of club. I hope they can make it work and it spreads to other places around the area.

Yep on weekend mornings only. These are all teenagers, age 13 or older, so not as if they are trying to make a living at it. Introduces young people to the game and allows them to make a few bucks.

I played Sunday, but at like 645am, and none of the caddies were there yet, otherwise i would have taken one. You can either take your own and walk, or ride and take a forecaddie for the group. It's included with the normal green fee. They recommend a $20 tip for a single, $10/player for a forecaddie.

The club pays the caddie the $15 cart fee if you walk.
