End of September going to do 36 at Apple Valley in Mt. Vernon and 18 at Irish Hills. We did our golf trip this year at Maumee Bay. Fantastic course, links style. I coach HS golf so I have been on most courses in Cincinnati this year. Terrace Park is our home course and is amazing as always. We end the year at Cold Stream this year so I am excited to get a chance to see the course. Most courses are doing renovations so anyone doing fall trips call ahead before you book. Heatherwoode is putting in their new rain bird irrigation system so they are closed or only partially open. We are playing Pipestone for Districts and (fingers crossed) states is at NCR. We were just at NCR for a tournament and the North is fantastic golf course.

Just got back into the game seriously this year and came across this thread. Wish it were more active - I'll try to do my part to build it back up!

Played across Southern Ohio in 2024 and my favorite course was Stonelick by a large margin. I'd never been there before and ended up going back 5 or 6 times. HIGHLY recommend playing if you get the chance - stunning visuals and in excellent condition, especially for a public course.

As a Michigander, the issue i've found when looking into Ohio golf trips is the lack of golf "resorts".  Makes trying to plan one a bit difficult for a decent size group.

I've heard Stonelick is very nice.

Gonna embarrass myself a little here, but I know that's a good observation because the thought has never crossed my mind 😂.

The Southern Ohio region is littered with courses, but I can't think of a good resort course without crossing the border into Indiana.

Most public track players I've known just rotate to other courses in the region when they want variety. Even on the private side, you can't drive more than 2 or 3 miles in some places before you run into the next excellent club. I've never belonged anywhere so this is in no particular order, but Camargo, CCC, Coldstream, Maketewah, Oasis, Kenwood, Heritage, Four Bridges, Hyde Park... The options are endless. Might also contribute to the lack of "destinations" to get excited about.

I’m in butler county and right next door to Indian ridge golf course. Not far drives (within 20 minutes drive) from Twin Run, Potter Park, Hueston Woods state park.

I’m on 6 acres in a rural area but close to

oxford or Hamilton, Ohio. My wife and I are thinking that next year we would do a big pole barn with Living quarters in it. We could do multiple beds and bedrooms and could be a place where groups of golfers could stay but play multiple courses in the area.

Same here, I love Stonelick! Played Saturday and condition was excellent (besides #1 fairway that they are "working" on)

Anyone know of any facility in Cincinnati area with force plates where I could hit for a bit and get some info?

I think they might have a few at Miles of Golf for instruction only. I could be wrong though.

Dang this thread is dead (again). It was a rough start to the year with tremendous rain and cold going as far as parts of May in Cinci.

I am struggling to find courses in the area these days that aren't overbooked or in rough shape for decent money. I've been playing Stonelick most weekends as it really is one of a kind for condition, tee time availability, and layout without joining a club for big money. Love the track, but it's like a 40 minute drive and isn't exactly budget friendly. As we finally have some decent weather now, I'm scouting what's worth a shot vs. not for the remainder of the season.

Idk is it just me or has public golf gone downhill in the area post-covid?

  • Grizzly is under construction, a mess for the money. Maybe next year.
  • I'm unsure about Beckett Ridge, I played it years ago before they finished the new clubhouse and am not sure it warrants the drive and coin they're charging today.
  • Legendary Run was hit or miss depending on when I played in 2024, thanks to their "program" where locals can join up and play for next to nothing with stacked tee times, the course was in ok condition but got beat up as the year went on due to this policy alone.
  • Elks Run was in bad shape last year, and seems to have not improved based on recent reviews although I haven't played it this year.
  • Blue Ash is next to impossible to get on for my schedule, and I have no interest in the place having grown up nearby and seen it a billion times before it got super popular, bad carts, no range, rude staff, etc. Nice course, weird layout (especially #1), and overrated imo.
  • Sharon, California, The Mill, Vineyard and Glenview are all ok in my book but I haven't been out to these in about a year or two.
  • Shaker is just too far to justify it being a regular thing for me.

Maybe I should just find a private track that isn't an arm and a leg to join lol

Played the original Shaker run 18 and Indian Ridge over Memorial weekend and both courses were in excellent condition. Prices are way up since covid but paid 50 for Shaker and 38 for Indian. You just need to have flexibility in your playing times but there are deals out there.

Where are you located? Elks in Hamilton is probably one of the best deals, for a private club that you will find.

Have you played Twin Run this year it’s in great shape.
