there's some precedent for Bradley types though, in 2008 it was given to Padraig Harrington who had 2 majors but had only played in 15 PGA events all year, and only had 4 top 10's other then his majors. He basically did nothing except for 2 weeks and beat Tiger Woods who in half a season had 4 wins and a major plus was top 10 in every event he played. It's just an indication of the value we place on majors
Maybe the players were sick of Tiger? A joke but I see what your saying. And you have a point.

I was more speaking to the idea of Keegan, or anybody, running away with it

run of the mill driver with stock shaft
a couple of outdated hybrids
shovel-ier shovels
wedges from same shovel company
some putter with a dead insert and
a hideous grip

you are also right that the media and players were sick of Tiger winning every year. I'm sure if Steve Stricker had the same line in 2008 that Tiger had he would've won over Paddy.

Ya, kinda agreeing on the Bradley thing if he missed a lot of cuts.

No way Donald can get it with just one victory, and the victory isn't even a strokeplay one.

I guess Simpson or Watney then.

Kuchar played some of the most consistent golf of the year. Can you be a player of the year without a win? haha. I'm not saying he should get the title, but their is something to be said for consistency.

Another vote for Luke Donald. The travel he has put in and still that consistent every time out. Nobody else is even close. Sergio and Rory tried but, we laughed at Sergio for saying he was tired. Just hope he plays well next week and leads both tours. Awesome. No question: Luke Donald POY

Bradley missed 10 of 26 cuts this season and Donald missed 2.
Bradley has 4 top 10`s in 28 events and Donald has 13 out of 18.
Donald has won over 55% more money than Bradley and Bradley has played in 55% more events.
Donald is #1 in scoring average and Bradley is 31.
Yes Bradley won a major and another event but all things considered Bradley is not even close to Donald.

It should be between Simpson and Donald and I think Simpson needs to do way better than Donald this week to have a chance given that he has played 39% more events than Donald.

This is a tough one. You have to go with Webb Simpson or Luke Donald. Both have played awesome this year. Luke making it to #1 and playing well all year on both European and PGA tours. Webb just breaking through and winning twice this year.

I think it is gonna come down to who wins the money title. Whoever wins the money title gets player of the year.

IMO the vast majority of the players have already decided that Webb Simpson gets their vote as PGA Tour POY, I can't argue with that.

His performances out with the PGA Tour are and should be irrelevant.

I have no horse in this race as there seems to be no clear cut winner. However...

T51st gets you $22,000?

T27th gets you $54,000?

A finish between 15th and 20th is nearly $100k?

Freaking obscene money. Obscene...

And before someone chimes in to say this is an anti-Kuchar post, refrain. Doesnt matter who it is and I'm happy they are taking advantage of the opportunity. Hell, wish it was me...

If we're judging purely on performance and consistency -- Webb Simpson gets my vote.
However, when you factor in the spirit of the game and what it means to work your tail off to beat your competition --- Nick Watney.
Simpson, Haas, Bradley all used belly or long putters. I understand the current USGA rules don't outlaw these putters but that doesn't make it right to use it. Luke Donald is consistent but didn't win enough on the PGA Tour this year.

When you factor in results per event played, Luke Donald sits at the top over anyone else on tour.
So what he only won one event and it was a matchplay? Matchplay doesn't count?
I don't think Keegan Bradley has had the season to compete with LD or WS.. ROY deff but not POY.
In the end I'd give a slight edge to Donald over Simpson (who has had a great year but wouldn't have even been considered a few weeks before the playoffs IMO) but at the same time I think an American will have a slight bias so I won't be surprised when Web walks away with POY

Webb Simpson didn't win anything until after the final major. That would be an automatic disqualifier for me, particularly in a non-Ryder Cup year. If you asked this question prior to the PGA or immediately after, he wouldn't have been mentioned among the first two dozen names. And I'm being conservative.

Imagine tennis picking a player of the year solely based on results after Flushing Meadows. :cheesy:

You need to look more closely at his results, he was second in the Transitions (March) and a playoff loss in New Orleans (May). Apart from the 3 MCs this season the guy has been nothing short of sensational. Are you ruling out Luke Donald, he has zero strokeplay wins?

Yep. Can't see how it can be anyone other than Luke Donald. Simpson and Donald have 2 wins each now and Luke has been far more consistent and has won the money title. Good effort by Simpson but when Luke is on form the rest are merely competing for second. What a round today.
