Have your Ping irons ever needed to be adjusted (loft/Lie)?

Hey all,

I checked the PW on my S59's the other day, and I tried to bend it .5*, and boy was it tough. So I just left it alone.

So my question is, do Ping irons ever get out of wack that they need to be adjusted? They are hard as heck and I would think they wont bend much.

Whats your experience?

I send them back to Ping if I want them bent. It takes a special Ping machine to do it easily - I'm sure clubmakers on this site have them.

It does take something to bend them - I've never experienced any change. But ya know, it's hard to tell since I was told it took a special Ping loft/lie machine to measure loft/lie. If you measure it on other machines, I am told you don't obtain the correct measurements.

What I really want to know is, have anyone ever had to get their Pings adjusted becasue they went out of wack?

They seem so hard that they would never bend on there own like a forged club.

I am new to Ping and Cast clubs, I have always had to adjust my irons once or twice a year.

Sent a set in a couple of months ago for a change from green to black. Cost was $32 and it took about ten days to get them back. A local retailer boxed and shipped them for me.

Basically, you won't need to get them re-adjusted due to wear and tear like with forged irons. They're just to hard to bend. And if you ever do need to get the lofts/lies changed for whatever reason, only let ping do it. They will only adjust what they feel comfortable the club will withstand without breaking and if they do break them, they'll replace them I'm told. I've never had them break anything that I've sent to them though.

Edit: I should say that it IS possible to get the loft/lie off, it just isn't going to happen in 6 months like with forged irons.

Yes, PINGs can and do change lofts and lies....PING does a great job of adjusting

might be a stupid question but was it 32 dollars per club for the adjustments or 32 for all of them.

If I remember correctly, it was $18 for the adjustments and $14 for the shipping. That was for a whole set. I think this information is available on Ping's website. You can also call or email their customer service dept. for clarification.

I had to send back my set of S59s because I bent them hitting on the hard mats. I was coming too steep into the ball. Bent the hell out of my 8 iron and 58 degree wedge. The store I bought them from said there was no way they could do it, and they took care of sending them back to Ping for me. The cost was somewhere around $30. I cannot remember the exact cost. Took about four weeks to get them back though.

I since changed my swing to stop coming over the top, and getting too steep. I had them change my lie angle to be 2 degrees flatter. I am very happy with the fact that they do stand by them.

I was shocked at the fact that I bent a cast clubs as bad I did. I too thought cast clubs could stand up better and not require lie angle adjustments as much. I think my 58 degree club had to be heated to be bent. Since working on my swing, and ball postion I really notice how much I was coming over the top and too steep into the ball.

I love my irons and plan to have them for a long, long time. If I ever get them reshated I know I have to go through Ping (or PingWrx). I am a big fan of SST puring and as far as I am aware Ping does not provide this service.

sorry for the hi jack... just wondering, I have a set of Ping irons fitted to me a couple years ago, and I just recently made some huge swing changes. The question is, where do I go and get fitted again? I do not plan to get a new set of irons now, but I want to get my current set of Ping fit to my new swing.

I assume there will be a service charge, but then I am not so sure where to go.

By the way, I am from Bay Area, California.

I know if you went to your local Golfsmith with your clubs one of their fitters will re-fit you using Ping lie board and ompact tape for no charge. They will also be able to send them back to Ping for you. The only thing you should pay for is the adjustment charge from Ping. Golfsmith or other major retailors should not charge you for a fitting.
