I used a 2-iron for years. I was pretty good hitting it off a tee on tight par 4's but never was able to hit it good off the fairway. I find my 19* Sonartec easier to hit off the fairway (and rough) than a 2-iron.

2-irons can be useful, but I think hybrids are more versatile.

Yup, I have a 695mb 2 iron....someone please shoot me for paying the extra $200 for it(it has Black Gold shafts so it's quite costly) Although, I was able to hit it at first, I have no idea what happened.

Because of this thread I took out my 2 Irons today.

3dot Rac MB and my Yonex Tour .. hit both equally well about 225ish with good trajectory at the range...

Will bag the whole yonex set for a couple weeks and see how I do, I have to adjust to the huge offset difference between the 3dots and the yonex tours.

I keep a 2-iron, shafted with a graphite Hybrid shaft (Aldila NV85 hybrid), that I use for that "stinger" shot off the teebox on short par4's. I tend to use it on very windy days as an alternative to my 5W.

While I LOVE to hit this club, it requires a good swing - bad swings can result in very very awful results. Having said that.......it sure is schweet to nut it! :beach:

A 2 iron? Well back in my day, a 2 iron was for a wimp. A real golfer played a one iron. Played it off bad lies in the fairway too, 240 carry over a bunker to a tight pin with a one iron was the test of a true golfer. Kids these days.... (cool)

Seriously, I did carry a one iron for a few years. The Ping eye 2 one iron actaully was not that hard to hit, But I had a late 1980's Hogan one iron in the bag for awhile...... What was I thinking???? :beach:

I went to a PGA event about 4 years ago and noticed that a lot of the pros had Big Bertha 2002 2-irons in their bags. Of course I thought I should have one too!!!!! I special ordered a 2-iron with a 6.5 Rifle in it and then had it bent to 17* of loft. That may have been one of the first "hybrids"??? I played it for a couple of years but for some unkown reason got caught up in the hybrid craze and now carry 2 of them. I loaned it out to a friend who now owns a similiar club, 2002 Big Bertha, and has gone away from the hybrids completely. He is coming into town soon to return the club he borrowed and has got me thinking about a "try-out" at the practice range to see what stays in the bag.

i still have my MP-14 1-Iron. it has a TT DGS S-300 shaft, i may have to get that changed and play with alittle bit before it gets too coold out.

Shafted my Snake Eyes 600B with a I-Rod S hybrid shaft and it's just like my wife: a peach if you put a good swing on it...an absolute bi-atch if you put a poor swing on it...

My friend carries a Titleist 1-iron, though he doesn't use it with many full shots. Instead when he's behind a tree and has to keep it low.

I order a 2 iron with all my sets of irons, i prefer to use it more often than i do a hybrid.

I will always have one in my bag on a tight golf course.

The sad thing is when I started dropping long irons from the bag, first the 1, then the 2, then the 3 iron, my first thought was not "boy am I going to miss hitting those Nicklaus-like long irons into the par 5s", but it was "now what club am I going to use to punch out of the trees"? :beach: (cool)

when i first started playing i couldn't hit a driver or a fairway wood so i bought a 2 iron. that thing was so easy to hit. now i am on to me 3rd 2 iron, an X-Tour which 'frazier' sold to me for an attractiove price.

p.s: if anyone is interested in a MP37 2 iron with a S300 shaft then shoot me a PM

o.k. so I read this thread and put the old 2 iron back in the bag yesterday...bad idea! My G5 hybrid is so much easier to hit that that will be the last time I try that move. Good luck to all you 2 iron guy's, I'm a confirmed hybrid user from here on out.
