Change drivers? I think both drivers feel great. I'm definitely a Titleist guy and hate the no hosel look on the R11 but they're the best on the market. Did you get fit or buy off the rack?

The "pow" factor is much more shaft driven than head driven since the COR is set the same for everyone. But it really comes down to personal preference unless you have launch monitor or Trackman numbers to compare.

I had an 8.5 D3 earlier this year and I felt them same way about the head. I switched to the 7.5 D3 with the same shaft and settings. That head was much more lively than the 8.5.

Could be that particular head. All heads are not created equal.

How different were the numbers?

Where did you get the 7.5?

The ball speed numbers on trackdude weren't drastically different between the two heads. 7.5 was 2-3 mph faster on average.

That's not a lot but the 7.5 also dropped my spin significantly. Pair those two ingredients together and I had gained 10-15 yards.

I expected the lower spin but the increase in ball speed, while minimal, was unexpected. The 7.5 felt hotter too. I understand feel is subjective so don't put a lot of stock into the hotter feel.

There are some 7.5's creeping around. Check eBay or the BST. One will pop up sooner or later.

I am a pure titleist fan love their stuff whole bag of it been using a 910 d3 and all year I have felt like there is no extra pow off the face and tried the r11 and had more distance and more of an explosion feel I want to love the d3 but don't think it fits me.

I have been using whiteboards 83x for the last 3 years so I just automatically went with that, My #'s with this club aren't even bad swing speed is about 118 with 10 launch 170-172 ball speed and 2500 spin its just the distance rounds off about 285-290 and the feel isn't there.

When watching PGA tournaments we all see the 910s and r11s dominate. I ended up buying a D2 and I like it a lot. So far I haven't really noticed a distance increase over my old sf 1.0..... But I am at least mathing it and I have opted to play the d2 at 44.5 ...one inch less than my last driver

Overall I've been happy with the 910. So far I'm liking the px shaft and for me over time I would consider a new shaft if I found one that was superior....but I'd likely keep the head

For some reason I couldn't do the white head!

I've owned both the R11 and the 910 D3 and imo the r11 felt more hot off the face where as the 910 felt more solid. Although I am looking to get rid of the D3 and go back to TM because the D3 doesn't seem to be as forgiving as the Taylormade lineup.

I find it opposite. I wanted to like the R11, as I had the previous TM offerings in the past.

The R11 was hard and dead. No life in that egg. My 910's felt like a powerful explosion, like I hit turned the ProV1 into powder I hit it so hard. In reality, I wasn't crushing it, but it feel like it, and looks like it. I hit drives now that my partners just shake their head and mumble. Had my best friend to day, tell me, that if I keep hitting it like that, his slice will show up because he'll be wanting to step on the gas of his R11 to keep up with me.

He's thinking about going back to his 07 Burner over his R11 because he's lost distance this year big time. He and I used to be side by side, now a days, he's literally 20-50 yards behind me, almost every time with his driver, and nothing else.

Actually the COR on "off the rack" drivers is rarely tested. They test a few of them and the ones that are closest to .830 are marked and not above are sent to the tour vans. TaylorMade uses a + marking on COR tested drivers. I have actually sent a few of my customers drivers to be COR tested when they complain of this issue and cannot find a shaft to make much of a difference. The results are often that the COR is closer to .800 than .830. I've even had them test below .800. I'm talking about all major manufacture drivers... not junk.

Unless you are only talking about carry... those numbers don't add up. Those numbers should be producing 305 + total distance. This cannot be the driver producing less distance. Those numbers are ball readings not club head readings. That means the driver is doing it's job. If the numbers are there then the driver is good. There is something wrong with the launch monitor.

The heads are created the same. This is a result of the 7.5 fitting your swing more than the 8.5.

Never had an issue myself. I personally thought the D3 had a little pop in it. So did the R11, but the Tour Issue shaft upgrade in the D3 was what sold me.

There are a handful of things that control the impact feel of a titanium driver and which either singly or in combination can explain why one driver feels "hotter" at impact vs another.

1. Each company's final COR design for the face - the USGA wants all the golf companies to design their driver heads so that the nominal COR if every specification is nailed dead on by the foundry would be 0.822. They advise companies to do this because they know the best head production foundries have a +/- tolerance for face thickness of +/-0.1mm. That means any head coming off the line at -0.1mm will have a COR of 0.830 on the nose. But it also means any head coming off the line at +0.1mm will have a COR of 0.814. So it is possible to randomly end up with a head that could be 0.814 or even below that, because this +/- tolerance for face thickness can see a head here and there beyond that +/-0.1mm face thickness tolerance.

2. Then you have some companies that ignore the USGA's recommendations and set up their nominal specs to result in a COR of 0.825 to even 0.828. If that is the case, then if you randomly run into a head with its face thickness at -0.1mm from the spec, the COR would be up there at 0.833 to 0.836. Thus if you had one company's head at 0.836 and another company's head at 0.810-0.814, you would notice a hotness feel difference.

3. As one of the posters said, the shaft can make a difference in the PERCEPTION of the feel of impact too. Get a shaft that is too stiff for your swing and impact feel always feels more "dead" than if you had a shaft that was more flexible.

4. If a face starts to cave in - either from tons of hitting by a high clubhead speed player or from some defect in the production, this too will transmit a dead feel at impact and with that, a noticeable loss of distance. Pretty much most all Ti driver heads will experience a slight reduction in the bulge/roll radius across the face after 100 to 300 hits when used by a higher clubhead speed player. But if this bulge/roll radius reduction gets to be more than 1 inch, then the face cannot flex as it was designed to do and from that, can offer back a more dead impact feel.

5. Sometimes, faces that are made from a higher strength Ti alloy can offer a little hotter feeling at impact than faces made from a lower strength Ti alloy. If you make a face from a high strength Ti alloy you have to make the face thinner to end up with a legal 0.830 COR. If you make a face from a lower strength Ti alloy, that face has to be thicker to end up with a legal 0.830 COR. So a difference in impact feel can happen simply because of the way that the higher strength Ti alloy face at its thinner dimension transmits the vibrations of impact to the golfer versus the lower strength Ti alloy face with its thicker dimension - even though both are flexing inward the same amount.

I played both throughout the year and was about as long with either. The 910 D3 fits my eye and I feel like I can shape more shots as needed with that club. The biggest difference between the two is how they feel...as stated previously. The R11 is more firm and has a good egg cracking sound. The 910 feels softer and has a deeper sound. The two come across to me, in general term, like comparing the feel between a Cast and a Forged iron.
