WOW what a course.

The golf course is simply amazing. Not long but length is not needed to protect this MONSTER. The course was in perfect shape, greens were going dormant but smooth and rolled well. Greens were a pain in the Word not allowed, they had some nasty hole locations today. Onto the bad I had 2 eagles and 5 birdies from the tips for a 75 with 40 putts. I might have to go back there tomorrow. Well worth the trip for me.

Respectfully disagree. Never thought it was worth the money. Probably because I love to walk and not a big fan of all the man made mounds.

I could see it being a pain to walk. Only cost me 50 today with a cart. I loved how they did that. I also don't have a problem putting it down the middle of the fairway. The guys I was playing with were in them much more then me.

It's not even a pain, they don't allow it. I'm not talking about mounds because I'm "in" them I'm just not a fan of a manufactured course and nothing out there feels natural. Some of those fairways are so wide it would take some effort to miss them.

They must have changed there tune. There were plenty of walkers today. The guy even offered me the walking rate if I was going to walk. I would have to say if they didn't add in the mounds and the slope that course would be so boring. I take it you have never played the Glen Club, that is a 1000 times more manufactured since it was built on 2 runways. There are not to many courses in IL that have nature terrain just because it so so flat for most of the state.

Seriously? Never heard anybody rave about it like you.

I'm not a fan of that course.

There are many other courses in the west suburbs that I'd rather play, especially at Summer rates.

Overrated IMO.

hmm I mean it was target golf, I love target golf. if you miss well the course will bite you. I got bite by a green hard today lol. I mean for the price I payed I will play it everyday. That course will play different every day of the week. Due to were the pins are located. I don't get down to the west suburbs much. I get down to cog once a year. What other courses do you guys like more down there?

Orchard Valley although it has gotten beat up since the sale to Billy Casper Golf
Highlands of Elgin, fun layout with the new holes, a little rough as the new holes opened a year ago
Bowes Creek, heard good things but I can't verify them as I've never played. All day rates would be a steal if you got a day like today.

played highland of elgin last year in a college tourney and they needed to keep it closed for another year to let that side come in. That is a cool layout tho. I have heard a lot about bowes creek too. I might go there tomorrow and play. Tomorrow is one of those days do I head up into WI to play university ridge or geneva national again or do I head southwest to play.

Heard real good things about University Ridge. Like I said Bowes has all day rates so depending on when you would put it in the air you could get in as many as you wanted. I think the new holes at Highlands are better (layout-wise) than the "old' new ones.

Yea I am still deciding.. I might just go to play hawks view too. Another great course... Last day of the golf season in IL tomorrow.

I really like PL, its always in very good shape and like the OP said it plays different everyday, especially if theres any wind. I would play it A LOT more if it was $50 w/ a cart. Just cant justify +$90 during the summer on a weekend.

 

Orchard Valley is a fun track and use to be in great shape up until Billy Casper Management took it over.

LoL takes you 1.5hrs to get there? Damn you really do like that course...man I wish I could ditch work and play but we have a major project underway and the boss would kill me! very tempting tho

Last day of golf season is tomorrow!!!! 65 and sunny lets do it... I drive down from gurnee. It really is not a bad drive just no easy way to do it. I am ready to go again lol. Tell your boss you will work doubly hard on tuesday.... I am doing that with my boss ohh wait I am my boss haha!

I really enjoy this course and agree it's kept in 1st rate condition. Also agree it's way too pricey compared to similar courses that have discounted select tee times.

Played it this past summer, so can't speak to current conditions. But, I thought it was fun. Greens were QUICK, and you had to play some target golf (I enjoy that personally). Also liked the practice holes....kinda different, haven't seen that before (other than at Forest Dunes in Michigan, but that's a 19th hole par 3).

I enjoy the course. Overpriced at $90+ but for $50 its a good deal. Course has some challenging holes but has plenty of scoring opportunities. It's a MUCH better golf course than Orchard Valley is now once Casper has taken over. Prarie Landing is in top notch shape everytime I have played it. Probably 25+ times.
