Wow!!! Those are just stunning and look to have perfect grain. (of course). I really like the one at the bottom with the black insert. Looks to be close to 1 and 3/4 deep. Yowzaaa !! Thanks for sharing those with us.

ALL ARE PLUS OR MINUS AN INCH AND THREE QUARTERS DEEP . COLOR CAN BE DECEPTIVE . THE FACE PROGRESSION AND NECK ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IN A WOODEN CLUB. THAT IS WHY I AM ANTI REFINISH REMOVING A SIXTY FOURTH FROM THE CROWN , NECK, OR FACE CAN RADICALLY CHANGE THE LOOK.

Charley-

I LIKE! I LIKE!

Your photos are incredible.

And this is your thread.

My post is on LH MacGregor Persimmons...

Couldn't understand why every LH TP was MOD 12....
these photos make it even more puzzling..

Those two woods-
one with 6 screws and the firing pin....
and the other with red/black/red framed insert...

I'd heard TP did this type work.....

but never thought I'd see it...

and after viewing these photos, one can understand your disdain for refinished clubs.

Thanks again for your superb explanation, and proving your point with exquisite photos.

Charley,

I've always like the post-Mac Tonney Pennas. I have one that I've used for years. Can you shed any light on the Model numbers?
was most commonWhat is the profile of a model 1? Model 2? Etc.

Mine is a "Mod 65 Handmade." Does handmade signify that the club is any different from a 'regular' Mod 65?

Thanks!

Handmade was stamped on clubs made in later years .

Charley-

This photo also shows me something I wondered about for some time..

Nearly all the RH TP Models have "Toney Penna" stamped on the soleplates, around the weight port screw.
-the weight port in the earliest TP models could be adjusted by a spike wrench as well.

Was there some reason the LH TP club soleplates were not stamped with "Toney Penna"?

thanks for all you have shared.

This is how a special order with the TIP in a Tee shape look:

[attachment=1861015:Toney penna woods3.jpg]

I bought a never used full Set of Toney Penna´s Special Order. They are from a Pro in the Chicago Area.

So, actually they are new!
[attachment=1861021:Toney penna woods1.jpg]

[attachment=1861025:Toney penna woods4.jpg]
[attachment=1861027:Toney penna woods5.jpg]
[attachment=1861029:Toney penna woods6.jpg]

Maybe someone has some info´s from what year they are?
What Model they look like?

My intend is to play them, currently I game a Toney Penna MOD JS Driver... or my
Hogan Speedslot 404 Set.
Only downside is that they are now in the USA and I live in Europe... I have to wait
until January to play them. They weren´t cheap either, but I think every penny worth.

With all you club gurus out there , no one commented on the feature which makes this wood set special. The tip stamp is a clue. Unless you know club making,you take a special club for granted. I will not expand on why the clubs are special until someone comes up with the answer. However, if you look at the clubs I showed earlier in the thread, it should be evident. I am surprised that you "experts" do not know what you are viewing. I know this set, because I gave it to a friend.
IF YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES POSTED BY RGOLF6, THE 2 DRIVERS SHOWN SHOULD IMMEDIATELY SHOW THE DIFFERENCE. THEY ARE NOT SPECIAL CLUBS, THIS SET IS SPECIAL
