I really like Bridgestone's J40 line... they make a 4wood.
[/quote]

Another vote for the Bridgestone, they are a real sleeper. I have the J38 3 wood and 5 wood and love them, going to consider getting the J40 4 wood soon though and maybe bag another wedge.

I haven't tried this one yet, but I did like the size of it. 190cc 4 wood seems bigger than most. And since it'll be for shorter tee shots and fairways, that'd be nice. I'm having a hard time finding the size on some of them online. Anyone know of others that have been mentioned that are this size or similar?

Titleist 904F. I'd sold my fairway wood and needed one for a weekend round. A buddy let me use his 904F 4-wood. My regular clubs are all Ping and I'd never seriously thought about gaming a Titleist wood...I figured they were as unforgiving as mother-in-law.

But that fairway wood was AMAZING. The feel was incredible and it was WAY longer than any fairway wood I've ever played. 80% of my fairway shots are for tee shots on tight holes. We were playing a very tight course and it was one of the best driving days of the season.

I ended up buying a 904F 5-wood for next to nothing that plays as long as my old 4-wood. As a bonus, it's just as good off the turf as the Ping.

I'm still playing my 904f 3 wood and 5 wood. I bought a Ping G15 4 wood but it is one the bench because I like the 904f's better.

Adams F11 Ti is equal to anything I`ve ever tried. Some people can`t get past the slot on the top but I kind of like it now.It grows on you quick once you see how the ball`s flying.

This!!! I gave the F11 a go on a launch monitor at Martin's not expecting much... boy was I wrong. The only thing that might kick it out of the bag is the F12.

Diablo Edge Tour...

Picked it over the R9, TEE CB2, Octane Tour, Adams F11 Ti, but I do want to try the Adams again.

Any of the old Sonartec, I have a 2.5 14 degree that is a rocket. They can be had cheap and are surprisingly long.

Another Tour edge vote.

XCG4 - 16.5* (4 wood). 100% fantastic off the deck, easy to get off the ground, square at address. The ball just wants to go straight.

Pretty short face height though (similar to the Ping G15), so IMO not the BEST off the tee. That vote would go to the TEE CB4.

OFF THE DECK - XCG4
OFF THE TEE - CB4

Ping G15Miyazaki Kusala - 12°

Callaway Epic Speed – Fuji Ventus VeloCore - 18°

Ping G430 Max FW – Alta CB 65 Black - 21°

Ping G430 H – Alta CB 70 Black - 26°

Ping G425 – Alta CB 72 Slate 7-PW

Vokey SM9 – 50 / 56 / 58

It's too bad Sonartec went out of business.....they made great fairway woods. I have three of them that are 5-8 years old and I haven't found anything yet at the annual demo days that hit better for me.....hit the 17 degree 4 wood consistently off the deck 210-220 (60 years old / 8 hdcp). They are made for low handicappers and tend to hit the ball with a boring ball flight. A great club if you can find one in good condition and put in your right choice of shaft, but not for the golfer who needs help getting the ball up in the air. And they are usually inexpensive since many golfers never heard of them and, therefore, have little demand for them.

A few years ago, I went out on a whim and bought a pair of Srixon Z-Steel fairway woods (3/14.5* and 5/18.5*) when they were on sale at GS for $69.99 each. I really like them! I also have a set of TaylorMade Retro Raylors (13*/16*/19*), aka: the pea shooter brigade, with the old Aldila HM-40 Tour shafts that are pretty solid too.

Just got a TEE XCG4 and hit it today for the first time. Holy crap is it long! Now I need to find a new driver because my 3 wood goes just as far. That is a good problem to have, I guess. Try it and see.

Nike Vr Pro. VERY easy to hit and with adjustable settings and a very solid stock shaft (PX). In fact, the new RBZ by Taylormade has deployed the same slot technology, only with a higher COR. Give it a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.

The forgiveness and high launching TM Burner Superfast 09 is as easy to hit as any fw could be. I have a steep swing and really struggle w getting 3w and 4w up in the air, but this one gets up quick, flies high, and is very forgiving. It's relatively inexpensive at TM preowned site.

I'm working on learning to hit the basement full of Sonartec NP-99's I have.

I was exactly that, suprised, when i was testing out fairway woods, and saw a Tour Edge Exotics CB4 layed up in the wall of the bay. I grabbed it and clobbered the hell out of the ball. I thought it was a fluke, so I went ahead and did it again, absolutely clobbered. It was 15* degrees with a RIP shaft, 1 degree stronger than you are looking for in your range, but the website says there is a 16.5 and a 18. I prev knew nothing about Tour Edge as a company (other than playing partners telling me its good stuff that doesn't get much love from the press) and I gotta tell ya that fairway wood has me very interested in learning more about TE-Xs.

I didn't buy it, but I bet if I did I'd be pelased.

Anyways, much luck to you in your search.

I'm looking to try out some new fairway woods this winter for next season. I'm looking for a 4 wood (or high loft 3 or low loft 5 depending on the brand). I'd say in the range of 16* to 19*. Aside from the 910, R11, and all the popular picks... What fairway woods did you try just because you figured why not, but in the end it surprised you so much you had to put it in your bag?

F11 Ti, surprisingly my favorite TEE is still the CB1, the CB2 was not forgiving enough and didn't launch high, CB3 was meh and had a crap stock shaft, CB4 tour is nice but the black finish won't wear well over time and it's still $. I really love my original CB1 3 wood with Accra shaft.

Also TM R7 CGB Max. Ti face, VERY hot and the stock shaft is too light whippy (45 grams) but if you have problems launching a 3 wood up in the air check this one out. I can hit that 3 wood as high as my 6 iron off the deck.
