Titleist Yellow Prototype Golf Balls

WHOA! HOT OFF THE PRESS!!! Someone just forwarded this to me. Anyone seen these before? This is the info I have...

Congratulations! You have been selected to participate in our golf ball test panel. We are looking forward to meeting you in a few weeks at Woodmont Golf Club. Please review the following notes so that you are prepared for our event.

Before the Event Date

We have sent you 2 sleeves of Prototype golf balls. These golf balls should arrive in the next few days. If possible, we would like you to hit a variety of shots before our testing day. We will be looking for you to talk about how these golf balls perform for all shot types: Drives, Long Irons, Mid Irons, Wedges, Pitches, Chips & Putts.

Day of the Event:

You are scheduled for an 8:00 AM tee time at Woodmont Golf Club. As we mentioned in our original email, we will be filming parts of your round of golf, and also interviewing you on camera to gather your feedback about the golf ball. Since this filming is for use on the Titleist website, we would appreciate if you did not wear any apparel with visible branding from our competitors (Nike, Adidas, Callaway etc.). This includes your hat, shirt, shorts etc. This is your schedule for the day:

7:15 AM: Arrive at course to check in and warm up.

8:00 AM: Tee Time. Play 18 holes of golf and enjoy the prototype golf balls.

12:30 PM: Lunch and Interviews - After your round of golf, we will sit down for 5 to 10 minutes to talk about the prototype golf balls. We are interested in the performance of these golf balls for all shot types: Drives, Long Irons, Mid Irons, Wedges, Pitches, Chips & Putts. This feedback can include your round the day of the event, as well as any testing you are able to complete prior to the event.

We will provide you with 2 additional sleeves of prototype golf balls for your round on the 1st.

I love the Srixon XV, the finish is very durable and I like putting with the yellow ball too. If they release a Pro V1 in the same yellow that would be perfect!

The Titleist won't be durable like the Srixon! I moved away from the Pro V 1 a couple years back, to the Srixon Z-Star Yellow. Srixon played just as well as the Pro V, and didn't get chewed up on a full wedge shot.

It is not about copying. They are feeling that they can grow as a company and make more money by selling a yellow golf ball. Their customers (we) have in a long time said that a yellow ProV1 would have been nice, and now they are giving it to us. We should thank them instead of being so harsh. This may not be your cup of tea but I am VERY SURE it is mine.

Um, I love Srixon as much as the next guy, and probably more, but Titleist is in NO WAY seeing a drop in volume--units or dollars. Now, Callaway, TM and Nike--that's another story.

I got an email a couple of weeks ago asking me to participate in a survey that, if selected, would include a round of golf and testing of new golf balls. As I was filling it out, there was a question about whether I'd be willing to play a golf ball that wasn't white and I immediately thought "something's up."

I hope I find these in my mailbox this week. Got the prototype Pro Vs last year.

I wonder if these are a Pro V1 version or an NXT?

My money would be on the NXT. Titleist is due for a new NXT version. Also yellow balls have not caught on with tour pros, and as far as I can see not big with low handicappers, who are the Pro V1's major market.

Interesting move by Titleist. I'd be surprised to see them produce a yellow golf ball, but....

COPY? Didn't Spaulding / Top-Flite introduce the first golf ball in yellow or orange back in 1979?

That's what I was thinking as well. I could see this as a NXT ball. I love playing the NXT. Even though I'm old enough to remember the day-glo yellow, green and orange ones from the early eighties, I think I'm falling for the marketing ploy. Would definitely game these.

I was told it won't be available in ProV1's. It's lookine like NXT's (not the tour) and DT Solo's will be availabe in yellow.

Lots of Srixon love but Titleist will quickly sell more on name alone, I don't think Srixon is well known outside the diehard golf fans.
