TM TP MB or Mizuno MP-68?

I know, I know - Mizzy kix azz here, but I am open...
My current gamer irons had a accident in the parking lot and I do not want to deal with their scarred toes in the bag. Maybe only the pw will stay. It's some nice WS forged blades I got from Watts with the TT TX-105 S shaft, & Lamkins. I have enjoyed the lightness, and the feel.

Over on the bay, a 100% ratings builder/seller has TM & Mizuno sets - he has every custom option available to him, and then he posts them as "used" for manufacturer compliance. I am considering with my $ limit either 5-9 irons in TM, keeping my old WS pw; Or the MP-68 in 5-PW. Since I like help on the course for trajectory and don't want to hit 130g DG S300, I would have TT DG XP in the TMs, and TT DL XP in the Mizzies. No shaft upcharges for either, and I hope to possibly get soft-stepped.

Anybody want to chime in on the choice of either TM MB blade vs. Mizuno MP-68? Current range set is MP-32 in DG R300, and I carry 7 iron 155-160 with the 80% balls. Since my game is not that great from the tee box, the wear 'n tear I endure in recovery mode makes that set tougher by the back nine than I want, so they will stay on the range.

I ordered True Temper GS-95 shafts in my MP-63s. They are fantastic. My next choice would have been the XPs that you mention.

They are a little lighter than the other shafts you mention but very stable and have virtually the same flight. I mention them because 1) getting them in stiff will be similar to soft stepping the XPs and 2) you can swingweight these just like a traditional shaft.

If you get a chance, demo them or maybe use the Mizuno swing analyzer to see if they are worthy of your consideration. If you can't do that then I'd eliminate the GS-95 from consideration.

I realize you are looking at the MP 68s but mine are similar and I used the same ordering method that you're considering, probably the same club builder. Great service and attention.

Thanks for the great feedback - it motivated me to get over to our store that has a Mizuno swing analyzer machine, I just hope my aching recent golfer's elbow holds up! I really have leaned myself into the TM MB set, so I have about three shafts there that I will pick from. He doesn't offer that GS95 on the TM iron, but all reviews on this site are raves. Therefore, these 3:
TT DG XP, KBS Tour, or Nippon 950. Initially, the weight on the KBS is abit against my inkling. I truly believe the shaft in my current gamers, a Wilson Staff blade offered only thru Watts (it really is a unlabled FG-59) TX 105 S is actually a prototype GS shaft. The specs are similar. I have nice ball flights, and less fatigue than I would lugging the range set around with DG R300 in them.

I owned and bagged both the MP68s and 2011 TM MBs, and MUCH preferred the MBs. The Mizunos were fine clubs, but the MBs got through the turf better for me and provided a much stronger ball flight. By comparison, the 68s seemed to be a bit sluggish through he turf and had a higher, almost floating, trajectory.

I have found the 68's to be low launching, but they are the best irons I have ever hit. Went in to a megastore yesterday and hit TM MB/KBS, MP-63/C-taper, MB2/KBS and 712MB. I felt like the TM MB and the 63s were giving similar results on the monitor with the 63s launching a little lower but going a little farther ( hit one 6i to 210 carry... Shaft I think). Hit the 712MB/X100 and it felt like garbage and didn't even want to hit it more than a few times. I think this was something related to the fitting cart club not having a solid shaft connection or messed up COG or something, since I was striping the other clubs. But the big surprise of the day was the MB2. Far and away the best looking club from address. the black makes everything smaller and more stealth so that the ball is what stands out. I was hitting these higher than the other two but they were very straight and forgiving and had a great impact feel. Never given adams irons a chance after being disappointed with their hyped up tour issue fairways.

If you are through and through a blade man, I would give the MB2's a shot. If you stick to 68's you might want to try them with KBS or steelfibers. Can't go wrong with the TM MB either.

I have hit the TP MB's and the MP69's(similar to the 68's) and honestly you can't go wrong with either one. 69's had a little higher ball flight and the MB's a bit more of a piercing trajectory. As BCULAW mentioned, the MB's get through the turf so well. I have to say I have been a long time mizzy player and was amazed how soft and similar the MB's felt. TM really put out a great set of irons in the MC's and MB's.
On a side note, does any one know if the weight screws have any advantage over traditional weighting? The sweet spot just feels so big on the TM's.

End result was a 4-pw set of MP 69, shafted with TT DL XP R300 and GP DD2 blue grips.

After shopping around and looking at used TM forged irons in person, I wanted some club I was familiar with somewhat in how they would last. TM finish doesn't hold up vs a Mizuno. I've had the MP 32 set since 2009, and they still look great and will be a good range set with their DG R300 shafts. I liked the talk up on Mizzy 69s about progressive weighting for launch help, heck, those shafts I picked will help even more.

After my initial post, I started to investigate Mizuno MP 68 or 69 and compared them to Adams MB2 or Callaway Razr X Musclebacks. Shaft options and price on Cally - no. MB2 mostly is out in that raw look and black nickel KBS - I'm far too looks anal to handle their eventual worn looks. Shoot, the parking lot spill dings in my current gamers, Wilson Staff blades (Watts for only $400!), is the reason I ordered the Mizunos - what a Ho!

I love how, on WRX, money always seem to eventually become a non-factor. He says he's looking for 5-9 in 68's and goes 4-PW in 69's. That is awesome..

It's funny how easily I can talk myself into golf related purchases and apparently I'm not the only one that does it!

Nice choice OP, those are definitely some good looking sticks!
