6 irons numbers with x100 and project x 6.5

Here are my numbers with a titleist mb 6 iron with dg x100:

swing speed 97

ball speed 133

launch angle 12

shot height 31 yd

Spin 6350

distance overall 203

same club project x 6.5

swing speed 98

ball speed 135

launch angle 13.5

shot height 38

spin 5950

distance overall 207

the dispersion on the project x was better as well but flew much higher obviously there were no 7.0 to try would that bring it down at all really like the project x but dynamics are solid to.

7.0's are much stiffer than X1's. At what point does the shaft being to stiff come into play? X7's softstepped twice would be pretty close to x1's, same thing for PX 7.0.s. The X7's would be a little stiffer and the 7.0's would be a little softer than x1's. I'm definitely interested in hearing the responses here. I'm in a simiar situation, but at a lighter flex. I have px 6.0's and I hit moon balls with them. I thought of hardstepping them, but I think that may be too stiff for my swing. I don't know if that would really bring the flight down enough anyway, and could hurt more than help. So I'm looking to move to X1's softstepped once for next season. The flex should match the 6.0's but hoping to get a much lower trajectory out of them.

You didn't plan to fail, you failed to plan!

C-tapers maybe? Never played them but here their supposed to cut spin like px but launch it lower.

Am I the only one that thinks that your launch angle is pretty (way too in my opinion) low for a 6 iron?

Your spin number are really good with the PX 6.5 but at 13.5* of launch angle, I don't think this would give you enough stopping power on average greens (even less on firm ones)... Unless you play in really windy conditions' I'd say you would need to get that launch to about 15-16 and keep the spin around 5500-6000.

The average LA on tour with a iron is somewhere around 14.5 but with more spin (6200 I think) with in both case is higher than yours.

As for the PX 7.0, you could play them at your speed but I'm afraid it will lower launch and spin even more which won't help you in the control department... only distance wise. I play the 7.0 and have numbers similar to yours:
BS: 135-140
LA: 16.5
Spin: 5500
This is with a 710MB 6 iron (32* loft) with PX Satin 7.0, 1/8 longer, std lie, D4 SW

Hope this helps

so the higher launch of project x would actually and in 6.5 would work better for me?

From the numbers you've provided, yes. You would be closer to optimal parameters for a 6 iron for your swing speed and ball speed.

I agree here...I am guessing you take rather good divots with your irons. That is alot of spin and really low launch. I hit the ball higher than most was around 22* with a 6 iron with S300, then went to X100 and dropped to 18*...much better for me, lower spin (from 5400-4900), so flatter at the top of the arc and gained about 7 yards. More than enough spin to sit down just fine. Getting Ctapers in X put in know, so that should get me a touch lower, hoping for the 16 listed above.

Experiment and good luck.

Man, y'all don't spin it much with your 6 irons at that speed! I agree with the low launch.. The launch seems better with the PX, but typically control is found more often with spin than launch, IMHO.
