Gary Woodland's driver??

What shaft/loft and ball flight does he play?

Not just the shaft and loft, but for anybody who's seen him play, what's his flight like? He looks like he moves it left to right most of the time.

He hits it pretty low compared to what is "optimal", his average launch in tour events is 9.72 with an average spin of ~2800. At his 180 ball speed, those numbers are plenty good. Flightscope gives him credit for 307 yards of carry on a strike like that.

He actually played collegiate basketball his freshmen year and had a scholarship before transferring to Kansas for golf.

Woodland's goal was to play professional basketball, but after playing a year at division II Washburn he realized that wasn't likely to happen. I run into more and more guys like him on the golf course these days... Great athletes that don't necessarily make it to the top in their favorite sport revisit golf and apply their natural gifts to one where the ball sits still for you. Would guess we will see more and more similar, non-traditional pros on the PGA tour as time goes on...

Got to swing this club one time when he first got it last year and it is the definition of a telephone pole. I play a RIP 70X in my 9.5 D3 and I couldn't turn it over with this thing. Gary has some raw power.

Any idea what length and swingweight he plays his driver?

this is my fave golfer and he can go over 200mph on ball speed......... at the Barclays I watched him on the range which was a small nine hole course they closed for them he hit drives 400+ to a very small green let me paint the picture they were hitting in front of the 9th green he hit drives all the way to the 1st green and thats way over 400 to get there........ it scary during torney play he's prob swinging 75 to 80 percent

As a current Washburn (Law) student currently residing in Topeka, I am very proud of Gary. He is one of my favorites on tour. But, as a Husker, born and raised, I try to forget that he is a Jayhawk.

Gary Woodland is an ok athlete but mark my words he wont be on the US tour in 5 years. He is clearly a great striker but hasnt played enough golf for him to be a great player.

Great first post champ...

After constant shoulder injuries and only being able to practice from Oct 2010, 2011 has been amazing for him. I'm pretty sure he's racking up 'playing enough' to keep him at the top of the tour, or the world cup...

Only time will tell... I really hope you're wrong though, sincerely... Gary's a good guy and a great example of a Pro athlete from another field succeeding in golf.
