I have read a lot about installing grips with masking tape and an air compressor. That is a quick and clean way to install a grip. But will the grip stay on without twisting during play?
And is there any use of this method in a Tour Van? I have never seen there anything else than the "good old style" double sided tape with solvent...

I am interested in getting a small compressor for the same thing...check out vids on YouTube and you can see how its done...you can also search other threads here (thats probably what most people will say)

Golf grips stay on the shaft due to an interference fit, not from adhesive. Even if you are putting a .600" ID grip on a .600" OD shaft with one wrap of tape it will hold without slipping. Using air works just as well as solvent, but most people learn grip installation with solvent because you have a smaller chance of ruining a grip and have more time to fix any alignment mistakes.

I install mine with air using an inexpensive pancake compressor ($50) from Harbor Freight. Look for package deals on the tool with grips on ebay or Rock Bottom golf (where I got mine). Here's a link to a video http://www.puregrips.com/grips/

It is stupid easy and takes no time once you get the tape off. That's the slowest part. Cool part is if you don't like the alignment you just pop it off and do it again, and they don't slip.

I would say you have much more time to adjust the grip with air vs solvent. Solvent will eventually evaporate and you can't move the grip anymore. With air you can always just blast a little more and tweak the grip.

To the OP. I just switched to gripping with air this season and I'll never go back to solvent. Air takes about 1/3 of the time for an entire set of clubs and it's so much easier to take the grips back off if you need to. I have not had any problems with twisting or rotating with my grips, including putters.

The biggest thing to keep in mind when using air is to not over-inflate the grips. Just ease the air open and use just enough to slip the grip on. If you charge your compressor to 150 psi and crank it open your grip will go boom very loudly.

I have tried both and I keep going back to solvent. I am CRAZY anal about having my grips on perfectly straight and I find that I just can't get that with the air compressor. I can't make the fine little changes that need to be done. Now when I am pulling grips to be reused I mostly use the compressor as that is definitely easier.

I should have been a little more specific. It's pretty easy to align normal grips with an air compressor, but when you're doing a putter grip it's easier for a beginner to make the small adjustments once the club is out of the vice and you can get a better look at it.

All clubs except putter, I use air. They just have logo down, so perfect doesn't matter. Putter needs to be perfect though, so once I'm through testing grips with air, the keeper goes on, and is fine tuned with tape and solvent.

That has to be one of the worst instructional videos I've ever seen for regripping. I also get the feeling this guy hasn't done much regripping himself.
