WRX World Golfer of 2011

Is it an easy choice?
For me it boils down to two options. Luke's year was astonishing and has been well documented. If you're looking at overall World achievements in 2012 noone comes close right (even despite the lack of a major)? 4 wins (more than anyone else) - both money lists, both PoYs, both score avgs

Well how about Yani Tseng's year? 12 (TWELVE) wins - that's 7 on the LPGA including 2 majors!! She won more than double anyone else's money on the LPGA. Don't forget she's still 22 (TWENTY TWO). That is phenominal

So the questions are - can you compare the two considering the opposition and challenges? Is women's golf not as "important" in the grand scheme of things? Does Yani's year supersede any of these considerations? Who's your pick?

hands down yani. she is a dominate player she will dicate if she wants to win or let someone else win. luke is not a dominate player. if there was a choice luke or the field i would take the field every single time. lukes top whatevers although nice for his bank account, lets call them what they are, its called not winning. if luke had a killer instinct he could have had an unprecedented year instead he had a decent year with a couple of wins(no majors).

If we're talking who was more dominant on their respective tour It's Yani, Yani, and then Yani.

The answers to your last few questions will draw some misogyny, but I'll bite. No one will consider the Ladies' achievements an important as Mens' achievements. So I doubt you'll get many sympathetic to Tseng's cause. It seems like you'll have to keep them separate.

Yani and Luke probably hit it about equally as far though

we could also say the most dominant golfer of 2011 is some high school kid who won every tournament he entered. Sure, the caliber isn't the same as the PGA tour, but nobody dominated quite like him! Why wouldn't he be the golfer of the year?

Yani is unquestionably the worlds best female golfer. But IMO any discussion of "golfer" of the year begins and ends with where the best golf is being played. That's not sexist, if anything it's borderline feminist. Treat everyone equally and such

I hear ya, but there isn't a HS golfer in the poll.

But everything else I agree with, and is pretty much in line with what I think.

i wouldnt call it dominated when you only win 2 times on the pga tour. if thats the case then keegan, webb, stricks, watney, bubba, and mark wilson all dominated 2011.
This is why I purposefully called the poll the "World" golfer of 2011.

This takes into account Luke's 2 Euro wins (BMW PGA and Scottish) and Yani's 5 "other" wins outside of the American tours

The numbers say Yani in terms of dominance, but Luke also dominated from a Global perspective.

i wasn't referring to Luke Donald with that statement, i was referring to a hypothetical high school player who swept all of his events

Luke. No really even a question.

To some degree it is an apples and oranges question. If you ask who dominated their particular tour ... then obviously Yani. If you ask who the best golfer (man or woman) in the world was this year? Sorry ... but take the best of each field ... and imagine them playing together. PGA, EU, Asian, Austrailian, mens and womens, pro and amateur (there's a LOT of tours on the planet) ... and take the highest money in every one of those categories ... and Luke wins hands down.

If money is how you measure, and you are talking about global golf ... "who is the best in the world" ... this isn't even a discussion.

13 mil season is hard to turn away from. But you can't hold it against Yani that her tour doesn't generate the same kind of cash. How much money would 7 PGA tour wins with 2 majors plus all her other finishes run I wonder?

As far as the LPGA... we heard "No Annika, we need a dominant player." then "Lorena retires. The tour is missing a dominant player. What ever shall we do?" Now it's "Hello Yani. You're talented and all, but we wish you were easier to sell" She plays great aggressive golf. You ever see her lay up? On the off chance her caddy does convince her to do it, she gets so disgusted in herself.

Yani is going to grand slam the LPGA Majors (yes all five of them) at some point in her career. Mark it.

Gotta be Luke. If there were more match play events he WOULD have dominated.
He's a tough guy against the field, even tougher one on one.
