I do not know about that.In the past I have pretty good in trying things that have really screwed up my swing big time.

I love Faldo and especially 90' at St Andrews, but that first vid!
Holy smoke I know he is 6'4" in his spikes but the club must be about 20" with that posture!
I've never seen such a squat.
I comment on his lack of length a lot on the forum. Basically he didn't lack length.
I watched at close quarters a good few times in his prime and he was plenty long.

260y in his prime in average.
I call that short.
Makes a lot of difference in approach shots.
4 yards longer back in 1995 than corey pavin.
His Leadbetter idea took him away from a natural instinct to a lack of athleticism and shorten his career with 15 years.

I hate to argue but Faldo was plenty long. You don't have his record on the long courses if you are "short".

His Open record is second to maybe Watson and 3 Masters at the long Augusta, Countless tour wins on long courses.

Wish I could be 6 Majors, dominant force in golf for about a decade with a so called dodgy Leadbetter short hitting technique.

The way faldo went about his game led to why he wasn't a long hitter IMOP, he just sort of laid the ball out there, the story I got about him was that the practice ground at welwyn garden city was about 140 yards long and really narrow so if you didnt hit your balls straight you had to go chase them, therefore he learned how to control his ball with a really smooth tempo.

Price had that quick tempo and at times could move it out there pretty good, but the way he went about his game didn't exactly lead to distance, he never had a lot of shoulder turn and didn't create a ton of torque, but just like Faldo he grew up in an era when distance wasn't the thing, control was, so he built his game accordingly.

That being said from the same era you had guys like Sandy Lyle and Greg Norman who gave it a thorough wallop so maybe its a cop out to simply say "thats not how they played back then".
