I really wish you weren't right about that. Freedom of Speech holds no weight on the Internet. I have had 3 suspensions so far because I spoke my mind and it offended someone.

Sometimes website administrators can be overzealous. But it's their site, so they set the rules. I agree with that. I absolutely agree with free speech, but I also agree the people who run internet sites like ours have the right to set their own rules (those rules are generally pretty liberal, but sometimes might seem "oppressive"). If you want a site that allows anything goes dialogue, I'm sure there are plenty of them.

I didn't surmise anything - just got my thread closed and a rude PM from some mod who told me that I can only talk about things they say is ok to talk about. I really wish the mods would let us discuss social issues like adults, but I guess we can't.

Why don't you start your own golf site then? IMO, this site is great because they keep things on topic for the most part. There are plenty of places to discuss all sorts of issues out there...... We choose to focus on the fun of the game.

While this topic is slightly golf related, I wouldn't be jumping for joy if I owned this site (or were a sponsor) if my ads were being plastered over a 20 page thread on it.

To tell you the truth, I don't mind regulation on this forum. One of the problems with forums is the lack of civility when someone differs from you opinion. I have been on too many sites where an individual who disagrees with you on a subject immediately launches
into personal and vitriolic attacks. There are plenty of other forum where members are perfectly welcome to be an anal orifice.

Um ... the guys that run this site aren't that bad. They do close threads where interaction gets nasty ... but this is news in the public realm ... they won't shut this thread merely due to content. (They will, however, probably close it because there's been thread - still open - that's been in the General Golf Talk forum for two days).
