NW Houston Swing Coach

My full golf swing sucks. Point blank. I have a strong baseball background and just started playing golf a little under a year ago so my problems are heavily ingrained. Problems are OTT, no hip rotation, all arms, coming out of my spine angle, chicken wing, flipping, non-athletic swing, etc etc. You name it... the list goes on an on. I am fairly athletic but lack some flexibility and a little overweight. Anyways, on to the topic at hand. I need help.... a lot of it. I've broken 100 ONCE if that tells you anything.

 

What are some suggestions on a swing instructor/swing coach in the NW Houston area around 290/1960 area. I've heard decent things about the instructors at Blackhorse but I don't want to go just anywhere like most folks do. I'm looking for someone that has the ability to teach and has Trackman and video. I would use Swanson's (where I got fitted) but I've heard they are more worried about what the guy hitting next to you did over the weekend than paying attention to passing knowledge on.

 

Suggestions?

 

PS: my short game is phenomenal. I work on that hours on end. If i could get a repeatable swing with consistently solid and flush contact, I'm willing to bet I could shoot par.

Try Donnie Massengale out at Augusta Pines on Kuykendahl. I know that's far from you, but I live downtown and drive out there for lessons (45 minute drive). He's good, and he works with some of Houston's best Jr. players, but he charges a $100/lesson. He will video your swing and he will point stuff out and work with you on them. I like his teaching style and he's laid back. He also has a Flightscope so you can see your numbers.


If your short game is great and you can't break 100, something is wrong. Short game is 2/3 of the game.

I might try him next time as I haven't had the best of experiences at another place on the northside that I'd rather not mention.

I think a lot of my full swing problems come from being extremely tight and needing to stretch more. Plus most ranges close at 5:00. Back when I was going to the range daily, I was getting better both on the range and on the course. Only hitting balls on the weekends just isn't cutting it!
