I played the day after p90x. for those who have not worked out in a while the feeling is like ummmm well..... Everyone of your muscles feel like they are
ripped in half and your not even able to lift your hands above shoulder level. So ya i love golf and i dont i could ever get to a course and turn around.

I could always go for some golf. Unless I'm inured pretty bad are feeling horrible.

So I guess, no. Not really.

Golf is a funny game. My instructor and I conversed at one point about how the same guy can go out and shoot 75 one day when he's excited and focused and another day shoot 88 because he just has no interest whatsoever.

Those days are the ones that can surprise you--good and bad. There have been plenty of days I could've gone but because I usually practice by myself it certainly gets boring and that feeling of 'why am I wasting my time' and 'who am I proving this to' sets in quickly after a few bad holes. Thankfully, I've also been lifted greatly by having some great rounds during similar circumstances as well.

I would say that constantly playing the same course by yourself and not shooting the score(s) you'd like can wear you down very much, especially when your first thought is, 'I could've spent my Sunday relaxing at the house and been happy!' Instead, I spent $30 to come out here--by myself--and get depressed about how crappy I am.

I totally understand that. Those are the times when it's nice to play somewhere they actually pair you up.

Always remember, playing good golf starts with WANTING to play good golf. It definitely doesn't make you a sinner to simply appreciate a nice day. No reason to spend the money if you aren't feeling it. Take a week (or two) off if you feel you need a day to chill out. It only makes you normal.

Weird today... Weather is suppose to be pop up "summer time" shower. Warmer than normal weather right now in the south. Mid/low 80's today, partly cloudy, light breeze.. Ideally, perfect weather, no showers in sight.

Wife went out and won't be back until later this afternoon/evening.. Sitting bored off my rear-end at home...

And I have no real energy to even put my clubs in the car and ride 3 minutes to the club.. I have no idea whats wrong with me today!!!!

Maybe just the range today... Haven't played in a week, but did 54 holes last weekend.

Anyone ever get like that? Ideal condition, and not really feeling it today?

Sounds like its not that you don't want to play, but more like you just don't have the energy to. It's not your desire to golf that is lacking, its your energy level ;)

I was like this this past weekend. I spent all day Saturday working on the yard and trying to fix our pool pump, that when Sunday came along I was so sapped of energy all I wanted to do was sit on the couch and watch TV and drink a cold beer. I wanted to get to the range and practice, had the time and desire, but it was just something in me that didn't want to get off the couch. I was physically and mentally burnt out from the day before. Work work work... I just wanted to relax, relax, relax ;)

ack! how about this: get out there and play for me ; ). play for those of us who live in the middle of NYC with no way to get to a golf course without dealing with at least an hours worth of transportation each way (train or car). play for those of us who thank the lord anytime the course isn't that crowded and we are able to finish a round in under 5 hours. i could go on, but now that you're properly motivated i'll just shut up and let you go play...

NO. A few weeks ago I was on the range in 38* weather with drizzle. Luckily we've had a very mild winter.

Lazy, I know.

I ended up going to play, and enjoyed the round, but somedays I feel so zapped that I just want to sit around even though I know the course is fresh for the taking!

Pollen is out of control today here, went out and walked 8 and called it done. 81* and with a 8K+ ppm of pollen count, I was about to DIE.

Good thing is, our course is GREEN as hell, full of green and color and looks great.

Yeah, yesterday when we had 50+ mph gusts and we have a lot of dirt/dust here in NM. You would have to be crazy to endure that! It was a good day to watch Golf on TV and think about nicer days on the course. Our spring is usually pretty windy but that was ridiculous. It is usually 10-20 mph, which is doable.:drinks:

Sure. Sometimes its good thing.

Sometimes I still go anyway.

Depends on whether I think I could use a break or if Im afraid of 'losing' anything.

Somethimes going is the spark I need to remember why I wanted to play. ;)

Today was a day I should have listened to my intiuition and not gone out and played but I tried to fight through it. I've been sick and my allergies are just out of control... well it went fine for 6 mostly uninspired holes but the course was as crowded as it ever gets out here and I just had a feeling of anxiety after I was forced to sprint to the tee box so I could catch the person they paired me with. Anyway I never got the spark, never was interested and the anxiety of the hordes of people got worse and worse culminating in dead cold shank on a par 3 that I usually feast on, ok another one deep breath, even worse. So that was great, after that I packed it in, shook my partners hand and headed to the range and after a half hour worked it out but now I will have to deal with those thoughts of that horrifying shank for a few rounds at least

I've had this happen twice. One time I got home from the bar at 2:00 and had a 7:00 tee time (forgot about that after a few rounds). Still went but played like it was my first time out. 2nd time this happened I had a 6:30 tee time and was just dead exhausted when I woke up. Knowing that they would charge me anyways I still went and played the best round I've ever played.

Side note. As the 2nd scenario, it feels this is the same when Im feeling lazy and drag myself to the gym. Always seems like I hit beast mode when I'm tired. I'm weird.

I'm going through that right now. I had the worst round on my LIFE on Sunday and just want to take a few weeks off to mentally recover.

I went out today. Just been worked to death this week, tired, worn out, and my allergies are OUT OF CONTROL this week.

Head out to the course to meet a buddy, and it's starting to sprinkle a bit. Course is in great shape, green, blooming, the whole nine.

We fire off a 34 and a 39 just shooting the breeze, trucking along... Both hitting the ball well for the most part, no waiting on anyone, and everything moving well.

Cooler weather, humid after the rain, lower pollen count, ball was FLYING today.. Glad I played today, I really enjoyed it.

I've drove to the course on more than one occasion, sat there a minute and turned around and went back home. I love to play just as much as the next guy but on rare occasion I just don't feel it.

Maybe it hasn't lost it's appeal to me yet, but I have never felt this way. I have golfed all winter with rain, snow, and slush. I'm sure I won't do that forever though...

Played a couple days ago. Shot two under. Weather has been amazing lately. Been in the hospital he past two days after a colonoscopy, it's killing me not being able to play right now.

When I last played and shot two under that was the first time my swing felt great, and everything just fell together, I really can't wait to get back out there. It truely is my faborite time of the year. The trees blooming and the sun shining , nothing better.

Pollen hasn't been too bad, but we've been having some really bad storms in the Midwest, there were a couple more tornados last night. In Illinois, indiana and central Ohio.

You live in a city like NYC where getting to a course is a hassle, just thinking about the trip sometimes is enough to keep you from playing. Best case I can get to a course is in 40 minutes, which is rare. Usually at least 1:15 by car and much worse by commuter train. Don't even get me started on slow play, because it's always there. Next time you don't feel like going out, think of us folks without cars in the big cities. But I stick with my decision to live here, we've got plenty of other things to do too :-)

Been playing hurt for over 6-months. Scores are going up and I'm just frustrated as all get out. Can't even remember what a good swing feels like right now. Made a 10 last Sunday on a par 4 after a flawless drive down the middle. Went all week without touching a club which is a long long time for me. Still have no desire. Booked a flight to Florida for April 13th.....Friday the 13th to go down and play World Woods for a week and do some fishing. Hopefully I can get out of this funk by then.
