Taylormade SuperFast 2.0 TP ~ Best of the best!

MG 1977

Recommended Posts

I'm back to a TM SuperFast 2.0 TP driver and I have to be honest, for me this is the best of the best. I love the fact it has a open face and toe weight, I can really go after it without fear of it going left. I've had some other very good drivers this year from R11 TP, 910 D2, Nike VR II LE, Cally FT Tour and most recently Ping i20. I must admit I was totally set on the Ping. I had a 9.5 with RIP'd NV it was a very nice club but could miss left or right. I decided to sell it and booked into a ping Tour Van day to get fit for one. I was hoping for an open face probablly dropping down to 8.5 degree's of loft and I was happyily looking forward to that. Unfortanatly for me (at the time) we had a bad couple of days weather and the Van got stuck in Snow so the event was cancelld. I then decided to book in with ScottsDale Golf for a fitting. The shop specialise in TM drivers, however I dont want an adjustable driver, as I always end up fiddleing and questioning the setup. They had an Ex-demo 8.5 SF 2.0 TP so I hit it in the net, felt good even with stock shaft, spin was around 2500 rpm, ball speed 150-155 with carry from 250-260 with a couple of really well timed ones upto 270. I love the look of the Superfast Head, the paint break looks superb, the hosel is nice, this is the best driver for me I love the thing, takes left out of play. The best bit is I got the matching 3 wood, both clubs for £250 which is much less than the custom built Ping i20 I was going to get. I even like the stock shaft but I'm gonna pull it and have it tipped a wee bit.

I agree 100%. I have terrible hooks when I get after my driver and have been hitting my friends RBZ TP with a black tie in it and have been hitting some bad hooks. I put my 8.5 SF TP 2.0 in and boom, right down the middle and long. Even my misses were long and very playable. I still can't find a shaft that performs for me better then my Kiyoshi.

Anyone have a txxxx from will they can write about? thanks

I have one and it’s a beast. I have hit it side by side against most of the current drivers out on Trackman and nothing touches this thing. If you don’t mind the white, shape and lines this might be the best head in a few years. Personally I am much more traditional and for that reason alone is why it’s my backup. I have thought of getting the head re-finished in black. I have a VTS Silver and it’s a great combo.

I've got a Kiyoshi in mine as well...absolutely love how consistent that thing is.

Another one here too....... I crush mine, been all over with drivers even some 2012 ones and went back to this driver....... Had a 9.5 that was a monster but had to go to 10.5 to get some height and this one doesn't seem to be as hot..... Not bad but lil different, it was also cut to 44 in but it just feels lil different

Gonna keep it though and maybe reshaft it

SP TP 2.0 is hard to beat

razr hawk

These were some other good ones and I am not talking on monitor!!!!..... Real course
Play which IMO is the only way, don't do monitors anymore ...... Very misleading as I have had good in store and bad on course so anyway

I have a Txxxx 10.5' with RIP Alpha X. The bomb. Only complaints -- toe weight came loose (Will sent me the tool to tighten -- awesome service), and it sounds like a trainwreck. But the performance is awesome.

Love mine. 1st swing last year with it and I was sold. And I went in to buy a Titleist and also tried out the Ping. Neither were close in feel, spin, etc. for me.

I love mine, but it goes so high. Spin is fine. Anybody find a shaft to combat this. I'm currently playing a Project X 6.5

Superdeep is a beast. It can be hard to tame. I know this may sound silly but it is too long. The Superfast is hotter of face with a better flight. I know my limits to the yard with it. Cutting a 457yd dog leg right to leave me 60 to green with a 30yrd wide landing area. The Superdeep would miss that fairway because of its roll off. Usually end up in heavy rough or trees. I can control the 2.0 better with minimal yardage loss.

The superfast 2.0 Txxxx, are they the version 2 heads only? do they have a loud sound ?
Version 2 have 2 serial #s. Txxxxx and a smaller serial below. The sound will depend on the amount of hotmelt in the head. Mine isn't super heavy but has a nice muted sound.
Played the retail in a 9.5 and a 10.5 and the tour issue v2 looks like its the same head but it plays very differently. Way easier to draw the ball and to control. Very straight and still very long !

Did they ever make retail V2 heads?
I went to the all the posts in the very long thread on the SFTP 2.0 V2 and there is no consensus. Only thing for sure, the tour issue V2's are different than the retail version with 1 serial. \
With the price these heads sell for now compare to what they were selling for last year, I wouldn't take a chance with the retail version and get a tour issue V2. They sell as low as $150 on eBay. Awesome deal imo !

Most def. The only reason I asked is because I have a head that has two serial numbers but not a T serial number

what shaft does everyone have in theirs? I have the SF TP 2.0 in the stock stiff shaft and my ball flight went from being a draw with the original SF retail version to a cut with the SF TP2.0 . Anyone have any ideas on a shaft upgrade that would straighten my ball flight closer to my original draw?

Thanks

And what`s your thought ? Is it easy to turn over or you loose it right a lot ? Does it reproduce your normal shot patern ? Have you tried the retail 1 serial model ?

Sorry to tell you this Glen but in this case, the shaft isn't responsable for your fades (which are more "huge push slices" then fades, no ?... ;) )
If you do a search on the subject you'll realize that there are 2 versions and the first 1 (1 serial #) is VERY fade biased. So much that TM had to produce a 2nd, more neutral head, so the tour players would game it (2 serial #s)

If yours has 1 serial and you like the performance of the driver but want to get ride of this fade (or stop hitting the ball on the right rough of the next fairway to your right...), look for a V2, tour issue if you want to be safe (and happy).

Trust me I had 2 retail heads (hotmelted, cottonballed, blanked toe weight...) with HD6, AD DI 7X, and Voodoo XPP6 and there was nothing a shaft change could fix. But as soon as I hit the tour issue V2, I knew right away that it was different. Improved.

It's not the shaft, it's you....the head and face are fade-biased, but I am able to turn it over right to left and I have the same setup as you do. (Matrix Ozik HD6 Stiff) With that said, when I hit a push-slice the results are not pretty, but I know it's my swing and not the club.

shotz and lobin-

thank you for commenting on my game, appreciate it, for the record the fade is about 5 yards which is much easier to control then my draw. The reason I asked about the shaft is because I have never experimented with switching shafts in a driver before so I was curious if it changes anything but ball flight and trajectory. But again, guess you guys all hit it 300 and are scratch players at your home course. hit me up for a game sometime and maybe i can bring my big banana slice to your course :)
