Cobra AMP Driver, A re-badged ZL???

I'm a fairly low ball hitter....demo'd the new AMP driver in 9.5* stiff and found it to fly eerily similar to the ZL with stock voodoo......a little more forgiving and felt hotter in the face.

 

Question to those who have played it on course in stock dressing, are you seeing in runout? Even though I really like the carry, I'd still like to see SOME run.

Re-Badged ZL it is not.......Don't like it to be honest and certainly not the best driver they have done imo....

AMP - slightly higher spin / slightly lower launch - all Titanium construction

ZLE - higher luanch lower spin - according the COBRA it has the higher ballspeed - but it's a typical modern era mutli material construction head.

If you like AMP ... Go lower loft - OR - Hit a lower lofted S3 - AWESOME head.

AMP & ZLE are completely different though ... and designed to be that way I might add

As Robo said, S3 is an awesome head...still adjustable and you can buy AM tips for shaft changes/tweaking etc

Thanks Robo......was really speaking of original ZL but comparing it to ZLE is fine.....guess I'll hit the ZLE as Cobra Pimp has spoken!!!!

The hotter feel of the AMP can be attributed to all titanium construction vs. the ti face/composite body of the ZLE.

Also, the ZLE is as advertised: HIGH launch and LOW spin. Even at 8.5* and the Open hosel setting, the first few balls I hit with mine looked like they should be up-shooting ballons. The down range trajectory always flattens out perfectly, thoughm and I rarely see a ball check up quickly in the soft fairways in my area. I decided to give the ZLE a shot based on the glowing reviews from ROBO and others, and so far have been delighted with the results. The Classic 290 7.5 has its work cut out for it to take the ZLE's starting spot away.

I figured the AMP to be more of successor to the S2 and S3?

Don't think Cobra does enough to inform the consumer of the performance differences between their driver lines, heck I learned more from Robo's post in this thread than anything Cobra has said.
