Ryan, I can't believe you went S&T, but if it works for you that's all that matters. Can't believe how short your backswing is now.

How is your distance? More, less or the same?

Havent figured out how to utilize my strength fully yet - but with irons its a distance increase with less effort. Driver is a work in progress. I'm starting to understand when to stop the backswing - and deliver my speed with the shorter swing. In the future it will pay huge dispersion and distance dividends.

It doesn't look that stacked :)

Hey Bro! Hope all is well. I'm trying to view some vids of your progress but my computer and smartphone won't let me view it. Do you think you could send me a link or something? I'd like to check out the footage! P.S. Got the SPX shaft working now and it's SICK.

wanted to give another update on my progress! i had one ten minute brush up on my way to Bend about four weeks ago that went undocumented - so i will bring everyone back up to speed before i show the lesson picture from a week and a half ago.

for almost a month i have been hitting the ball better than i ever have. consistency. compression. distance. control. all of it was present. this skyrocketed my confidence and allowed me to play some pretty good golf. well... it was bound to happen but i developed a miss - an opposite miss than what i have faced in the past - a slight overcut. now with this pattern it is very easy to identify why something is happening, and how to fix it. i love this about s&t. i don't love fact vs. feel. so, in other words i have successfully over corrected the problem and now i have a ball that starts out on target or slightly left of target and draws. shouldn't be too hard to fix, but i am facing some difficult old pattern reoccurrences that sneak back in.

in addition to Jason's comments, i don't care for how i am losing my angles into the ball. as i reviewed some past footage when the ball was slightly forward of that in the picture - they were held much better. perhaps an early dumping into the ball. this can get the club coming in slightly steep.

i have a driver video that i will post tomorrow, as i need to get it uploaded to YouTube, that i am not looking forward to sharing. it wanted to make me hurl. everything i had been working on got very sloppy and unorganized on that particular shot. however, it does show the progression of my swing... sometimes the old habit creep in. identify them and fix them. so... not proud of the video and don't want to show the rest of you, but will to keep things honest.

one final note. my misses now, which i am not happy with, were shots in the past that i was fine with... so the old ok is now the new bad - which if i bring myself back to reality is very good.

look to see some big changes with the driver swing moving forward.

again there is not much that i like here...

>setup is terrible - too upright with no angles created
>rotate forearms too early creating even a flatter backswing
>hips/shoulders too flat
>swing too long

previously i had been able to REALLY shorten the backswing with the driver (the irons shortened as well). i pretty much doomed myself with my setup position.

here is what Jason wrote me:

"Monitor ball location with irons, probably with everything. But driver is pretty good. One thing is hips look too level at the top of the swing, leading to a lot of extension with the spine possibly too much. Still pretty long length of backswing, but your circle is awesome! Hitting out at the ball, exiting correctly...

I think just a few little things to clean up, but long term would be nice to understand how to "load" and pivot the precise amount as to not let the swing get long and chaotic.... but not necessary to play really good golf."

don't want to show it... but this will help me monitor my progression and force the changes, because i don't want to post another video that looks like this...

for what its worth - i was killing the driver. it was flying onto the back member tee area. so even though it looks bad, it was working...

Little protein powder and some N.O. will fix that swing right up. Backswing getting a little sloppy compared to your iron shots.. clean it up!

yeah - this swing looks horrible. there where plenty of good ones in the mix, but this is what happens if you become unorganized for a swing.

come and workout sometime - you'll be wedding ready :). and my swing is the only thing I stack - all natural here short timer!

I'm still following this pattern - and go in for touch up lessons every now and then. My swing may not look like the a typical s&t swing but I have been able to apply the methodologies to my natural pattern. There are things I still don't like about my swing - but over what has been a years worth of time have been able to neutralize things. I have also moved away from trying to hit a fade - and embraced a small push draw. Never thought i would - or rather never thought I could. A draw was something that never happened - overdraw yes - but not a planned draw. The lessons, time struggling on the course, watching the 2.0 DVD (one time) and most importantly understanding how to apply the correct geometry to the swing to get the results I needed. This was the hardest. I knew them - but couldn't apply them. Now I understand them and am learning to apply and trust them.

My next step is to trust more and tighten up my cone so to speak. Being a low single handicap player it was always about how good can i scramble today... Mixed results :). Now it's about the visual and setup. It's not always perfect but I'm glad I have stuck with it. Also I would like to spend some extended time on trackman working on consistancy and my face path relationship.

Remember s&t doesn't have to look like the infomercial - when applied correctly it can be a benefit to your game.
