Don't think you'll be playing Bandit Friday. Raining here hard now, and forecast is for a lot of rain all day. My league is playing there right before that, but I didn't even sign up because there's 100% chance of rain.

I ended up playing Thursday, got to go out before their 2 pm shotgun start tourney they had.
But yes this whole weekend rain ruined everything. I was stuck in San Marcos the entire weekend.

Going to head out to the bandit today to start a round around 1:15-1:30.
Don't have a tee time since singles aren't allowed to reserve a tee time if anyone wants to tag a long let me know.

canyon springs looks like a winner....when i googled it, i also got a canyon springs course in twin falls, idaho, which i saw a bit of driving back...omg! check it out!!!!!!!! i missed it!!!

how's the republic looking these days? just rained down here the last couple of days so i hope all these courses got some much needed rain. a buddy and I may head up there at the end of next month.

Sorry OP cant give you any info on the Republic but the rain will do the courses around here wonders...I play cedar creek weekly and you were just starting to see a little brown in the fairways.

The Republic and The Bandit are owned by the same company. They are always in pretty nice shape.

played the Republic last Friday. it was a seriously perfect day to play golf. started the morning in the high 60's, by late round it was low 80's with almost no wind and some sun. it was seriously great. my buddy had a few too many drinks the night before so he had a rough round. the course was in great shape overall, though the greens needed some work. they were really slow. i left a lot of them short, still managed to shot an 87 from the greens.

Played the Palmer Course at La Cantera the other week, was a pretty solid track. Have also played the Quary and the Ft Sam Houston course. I think the military rate at TPC is $65, so I will probably check that out before I leave. If there is anybody who would like to play on the weekends let me know. I am here for school until mid Nov.

Brackenridge greens are currently (as of Sunday) absolutely immaculate.

Cedar Creek is in great shape right now.

Played cedar creek. Course was in great shape, never had a flat lie lol but that course rewards bad shots sometimes!

Flat lies are hard to find on most holes.

I'll be in town for a day in February. My home course has gotten me a time at TPC Canyons. I was reading about Briggs Canyon, is it worth seeing if my course can get me on there or just stick with TPC?

Briggs Ranch is a better track than TPC Canyons in my opinion. Excellent course with excellent grasses. Briggs Ranch is also clear across the city from TPC. Could be an hour drive depending where you stay/time of day

The front nine at Cedar Creek doesn't have many flat lies, or even fairways that don't slope off into the trees.

 

Luckily you can make up some strokes on the back.
