Tiger Misses another cut??

ABGolf58

Why does Tiger Woods think he can take 3 weeks off and play any good. He is just another golfer these days. He needs to make a committment to playing golf every week until he gets better, or fire his coach.

Its like all athletes as they get older the mind still says they can do what they used to do 10 years ago but their bodies won't let them..

The guy can't be honest with himself, let alone other people. He is just another good PGA golfer now. He can win one week and miss the cut the next week. You never know who is going to show up.

Until he sorts out his personal life, he won't be back on top for good. He will definitely win more events. He has too much talent. But he won't win with regularity without curing his other demons.

Old stuff:
1962 Tommy Armour AT2W Driver   1953 Macgregor M65W EOM 3 wood   1978 H&B PowerBilt Citation 4 wood
1984 Ben Hogan Apex PC 2-E   1968 Wilson Dual Wedge
1964 Acushnet O-SET M6S Bullseye Putter

New stuff
Titleist TSR3 10* driver (Matrix HD6 s-flex)  Titleist TSR2 18* fairway wood (Matrix Code-8 s-flex)   Adams A2P 20* hybrid (Rombax 8D07HB s-flex)
Titleist 716 MB irons 4-PW (Hogan Apex 4 shafts soft-stepped)    Callaway Mack Daddy wedges 52, 56, 60 (DG S200)

You are probably right on the money with that assesment. His on course demeanor and behavior is real pathetic. His on course expectations of his play are obviously too high.

Off the course, does anyone really care anymore? Deep down, he probably just wants to be left alone but that will never happen with the media stalking his every move.

Most likely Tiger should have missed the cut by more than he did. How many golf balls are pocketed by a spectator, as opposed to getting stuck in a tree or otherwise ricocheting away unseen? As someone versed in probability, let's just say I'd bet on the latter and be willing to give a price.

The idea of fans rushing to the area yet nobody saw the ball pocketed strains credulity. Mark Russell may be versed in the rules, but not applied common sense.

I find it funny that he keeps talking about how he "needs reps", but then decides to take all this time off between events.... Makes no sense.
[/quote]

No it doesn't make sense, but then again neither does he.......

The fan boys think otherwise, I for one don't believe one word he says anymore,....he's like a "Walmart" press release when he speaks.

I would bet that his ball was picked up, there were several witnesses that said they heard and saw the ball come down.

They PGA also has a rule addressing specifically spectator interference and/or pocketing the ball. It's not like it doesn't happen.

Wonderful,,,no more Woods to watch over the weekend, now we can get on with watching contending players. My wife and I were huge Tiger fans,,but really who the Hell want's to watch this guy who is a complete shadow of his former self hack and thrash his way around a golf course.

Have we not had enough of listening to the nonsense,,," I've fixed it " ,,, it's close now " ,,,it's a work in progress ",,, etc. etc. etc. Yesterday two golfers who were not in contention,,,Mickelson and Woods get the bulk of the TV coverage. I don't get it at all,,,Mickelson for example was ten shots back, another young player was two shots back and all we saw was Mickelson,,,,and it's like wise with Woods ??

You are completely right,,,Woods is just another golfer now,,,and not a very good one at that.

Really don't get all the breaks and then expecting to play hot golf by just pounding balls on the range.

I still think he would be better off just getting out and playing more golf. Pitch up and play a few of the lesser tournaments he used to skip when he was on top of his game. He certainly ain't on top of his game and the slightly easier courses and weaker fields might just get his competitive juices flowing again, without being quite so punitive if his game is not 100%.

Might also look like a decent jesture, giving something back to the game. He could certainly do with a little good press.

His best play this year is coming at the end of a few weeks playing. While a MC was a bit of a shock I never truly expected him to feature this week. After watching him play it seems to me he is missing poorly and it is exposing every weakness in his game at the moment, specifically his short game. I think it was Hogan who said he who misses best wins. Anyway TW has a few tournaments coming up with the Players, The Memorial and the US Open coming up and I reckon if he played the St Jude between the Memorial and the US Open he lands up playing much better, possibly contending, versus if he took 2 weeks after the Players and a week after the Memorial. His game isn't at the point where he can hit balls to keep things in order and show up at the course and contend. He needs rounds under his belt before he starts getting into the tempo where things come together. Also his putting stance seems to change every week.

for those of you who don't read

"I think he hit the ball pretty good,'' said Geoff Ogilvy, who played with Woods during the first two rounds. "I know that sounds ridiculous ... he hit a lot of really good drivers. He hit an unbelievable driver on 10, the first hole of the day. Just unbelievable. I think he's got a lot of good stuff. If he tells you he's close, I think he's actually right, but he has to putt better. He hit some classy chips, too.

"If he putted just OK, he would have been 5-, 6-under and got around nicely. And if you hole putts, you can get away with loose shots.

tiger has 267 professional starts and has missed 8 cuts....doing the math that equals him playing over the weekend 97% of the time. keep ignoring the facts though and carry on with the exaggeration

Man that is spot on! I love watching good golf, I dvr it or watch it, but this is one of the big reasons I use dvr, when TW is 6 8 or 10 shots behind it is still hard to figure out who is leading!! More EURO golf in my future viewing.

Well said. But I fear that those who do not like Tiger ( there are many on this thread ) do not like to read the kind of information that you just offered up. They are too busy clapping their hands with self satisfied glee.
After noting that Tiger had missed only his 8th cut since 1997 an announcer went on to say that even though Tiger wouldn't be around this weekend and even though he is clearly having problems on the course, that his results thus far in 2012 would be a good season for most tour players.
I personally think that the real Tiger will still bare his fangs at some point this season. If I'm right then Those who dislike Tiger will still find a way to belittle the man and his game. Sad, really, that they can't just enjoy what Tiger became famous for in the first place. His golf. As my dear departed Dad was wont to say..."Son, we all live in glass houses. Best not to be throwing stones!"

First off, I'm not a Tiger hater...I could care less either way...however I will say he could be a little nicer to folks. Now, I didn't see his round on Friday but I caught some highlights and I have to say that he hit some truly awful shots. Remember how awesome he used to be...now he hits shots that you can see at your local course (no exaggeration). I mean it is actually sad and embarrassing.

As for you stat about him missing 8 cuts, yes that is true...however I saw on the telecast that in his first (I don't remember the number exactly but these should be in the ballpark) 300 events he missed like 3 cuts...in his last 32 events he has missed 5 cuts. Again, I'm not a Tiger hater (and I hope my number are not too far off) but that says something isn't quite right.

I also saw "On the Range" the other night and they commented on how if Tiger could take is range swing to the course than he would be winning again at a stagering rate...who knows, maybe it is karma.
