Played lions today, greens still recovering from being punched but fairways were in awesome shape

Playing GC at Star Ranch this weekend. Never played out there, but seems to get good reviews. Anyone here have personal experience?

I really enjoy it. It's got wide fairways and plays like a resort course; ie. fairly easy.

That said there is a good mix of holes from driveable par 4s to some long testers. When the winds up - like everywhere around here - it can really change things around.

They have a decent range for warming up on too.

We live on the course. One of Austin's best conditioned public courses....day in and day out...and in peak conditions right now. Fun track, not overly long, and the normally consistent wind provides most of the defense. Enjoy..and I'll bet this course makes your regular rotation.

Was a member for a year. Previous posts nailed it. Well taken care of with great greens. Good variety of holes, but not particularly difficult unless the wind is way up. Back 9 can be a little slow due to going par 3, reachable par 5,

short par 4, par 3 on 12-15.

 

Haven’t been out there for a few years after moving central, but was always one of my favorites for a good time.

Decided to take tomorrow off from work so I'm gonna hit Avery Ranch for the first time. Looking at the slopes on the scorecard I'm in for a "fun" time

Just played in a tournament at Lions this morning. Played like arse but the course is in great shape. Greens are probably the fastest I’ve ever seen them.

$200 for 3 tournament rounds, top 3 players get clubhouse money.

 

I think you'll have both an early round and a late round on days 1 and 2, and then you'll have an early round on day 3.

Played there last year when visiting my brother and had a great time. Book online and for $55 midweek you get breakfast and lunch buffets, unlimited range balls, cart, and free replay. I shot my worst since i was a beginner 104 the first 18 and was going to go home. Ate the lunch buffet and decided to go again, Shot an 82 which is my best round ever. Unreal.

Made the journey out to Delaware Springs in Burnet this week. Pretty fun course for the $16 I paid... just wish it wasn't just a long drive.

I haven’t played the course in a few weeks, but the practice green is fairly ill-suited for practicing right now. Have a hard time imagining the course greens being better given conditions 2-3 weeks ago.

Played Wolfdancer on the 4th....sad to report they are losing most of their greens and teeboxes. still worth $50 or $60 green fee...but not any more than that

Went to mo willy to practice today. Putting green is totally closed. Chipping green looks to be not far behind.

How are Kizer's greens? I practiced at Mo Willy last week and it was terrible.

Played Kizer Saturday, greens were a little shaggy and inconsistent, not bad, but I think Clays are in better shape.

^They are just coming of punching a few weeks back, I was last out there on the 7th and they were coming back decently, but they need some more time.

I found them in good shape (barring aeration recovery) all year TBH.
