I played clay earlier this week, and though the greens were super slow, at least they had grass and rolled smooth. I’d take that any day over the last several months of mo willy.

For a City of Austin course, MoWilly has quite the restaurant and bar. Great tacos and surprisingly good margs!

Long time WRX lurker, new to the forums. Dedicated club ho. I'm looking for a few guys to play regular (2-3 times a month) rounds with on week days in the Austin area. I'm a big fan of the course formally known as Wolfdancer. I play Lions and Morris Williams more than I care to admit. Always looking for a weekday game with like-minded players. It can be tough to find people to play with mid-week. If any local members want to play, let's connect and tee it up.

I don't even think the 4 hole practice course is open either due to condition of the holes. I had been taking my 7-year old there to learn how to play but now we head to Butler Pitch and Putt, which is a whole other level for him!

I played Kizer last weekend and it's in great shape, greens were a little slow but that's to be expected.  Short course is back open as well.  Clay looked god as well but I haven't had a chance to play it yet since they opened it back up fully.

In town to see my son who is a freshman at UT. Have a couple hours free in the morning. Is there a decent short game & putting area where I can kill a couple hours? Are Hancock or Butler Pitch & Putt a viable option instead on a Friday morning?

Do Butler - it's a great experience. You're hitting off matts, and the greens are hairy, but it's a gem. You can start the tailgate early there as they have a good beer selection. Good slice of Austin people. 

 

Hancock is a viable option to walk with a half set. Each hole is about 70% of the length of a regulation course. Also hairy greens. 

 

To really practice, maybe try Balander at Clay Kizer. It's further afield from campus, but the best public practice facility. 4 hole short course you can play over and over.

General question.  I will be off and on in the Killeen area during the winter months over the next 2-3 years. Any course recommends up that way and how is the weather and course conditions during the winter months?

Is anyone a member or know a member at Twin Creeks in Cedar Park?

Initiation is 25k now which is crazy (still cheaper than most), but its ~6 minutes from me and I'd love to get 9 holes in before/after work often as well as 1-2 weekend rounds (don't need prime time, mid morning and afternoon are fine).

hey seem to have a good membership signup deal going on right now, but I've seen a lot of older reports of slow play and tee time competition. From what I've heard though very little complaints about the course itself and its maintenance.

I know others recommend Great Hills but I think the cost is significantly higher. I do like the ability to play other places with Arcis if I want to take a weekend trip. Curious about general feels about the place and whats its like being a member there.
