Custom Miura's

A couple of weeks ago I sent Joe Kwok an email. I originally wanted to hear about the possibility of making a 59* wedge with the Miura K grind as the rave reviews from a lot of guys on here got me interested. Joe asked me to call him instead, so I did. 45 minutes or so later, I had ordered two new wedges :lol: We talked again two or so weeks later when the raw wedges had arrived, as Joe wanted to get everything exactly right. Even though Joe is on the other side of the world from me, I was sure that he would get everything right. I've bought from him a couple of times in the past, and everything has been perfect. We decided on 53* and 59* (same set-up as my Chikaras) with a little more bounce and a heavier swing weight compared to what I've played before. Joe threw in a couple of surprises, as the DG shafts were satin, and he went nuts with the "R" stamp, making a new "Inspired by Rolls Royce" stamp :lol:

The wedges arrived a couple of days ago (it took 3 days to get from San Francisco to Copenhagen, and then 20 days to get through customs :lol: ) and I'm taking them out today for the first time. Color me excited!

Holy Geez....those are the best wedges I've ever seen. Are these white satin?

They're raw, so they'll rust eventually. I don't think Joe did anything with the finish.

These are great - i've had mine for about 3 months now, and they're finally starting to get a really even raw finish rust to them. It starts out sort of splochy and all over the place, but work 'em work'em work'em, and they turn a very nice dull brown.

Kwok grinds are amazing - everything about these wedges, the weight, the bounce, the grind..... top notch.

Those are super looking Michael! Damn..I just spoke to Joe the other week and he didn't tell me about these he made for you. I guess that's a good thing..either that I kept him too busy talking about drivers and shafts!

I am thinking of going for a set of Miura irons and Joe will be the man to get me fitted if possible.

I finally got to hit the wedges yesterday. First thought, Miuras feel pretty good! The heavier swingweight is definitely noticeable and will take a little time to get used to on full swings. It worked great when gripping down and on shorter swings though, which is also why Joe recommended it.

Your wedges were actually one of the reasons why I went with Miuras I'd love to see some pics of the the finish they have now!

I've known Joe for quite a few years now, but in all honesty, he impresses me every time I order something from him. He's extremely meticulous and asks a lot of questions, which is very comforting when you're ordering from half way around the world. You can't go wrong with Joe!

A little note about WEDGE GRIND:

Wedges or anything you hit off the deck are all about bounce angle and shape to fit your style of play and swing.

A little more compact wedge heads are usually preferred by a better wedge players for better trajectory and distance control. Other than LW, we don't need wider type sole/muscle design, because wider design will make the ball flight higher and harder to control.....This is why porting are somewhat a good way to altered that....definitely not the other way around by adding tungsten ingots. Plus this is a CUSTOM GRIND HEAVY HEAD, It's not suppose to need those tungsten ingots.

I said this again and again, Its easy to make a grind looks stunning and expensive, it's not easy to make one that really works too.

Lots of visual trick that we can do with custom grinding to make them look a certain ways. This is the ART OF GRINDING A WEDGE.
