Leupold's pinhunter

I'm trying to decide between Leupold (GX3 or GX3i) and Bushnell (Z6). I've been able to compare them in a store, but can't test either on the course and it's tough to simulate a flag situation.

 

How good are the Leupolds at picking out the flag? I've used a Bushnell before (1500), and had good results. But, I prefer some other attributes of the Leupold. Any comments as to it's Pinhunter system? Comparitve to a Bushnell would be most appreciated, although I'm certainly thankful for your comments about the Leupolds.

Also, one thing I like about the Leupold is the display. Does the larger crosshairs and digits ever get annoying?

I just got the Leupold GX-3i and also have the V2...leupold is much faster and optics are better, but I can't get the pin lock for some reason...maybe only 1-2x per round...my buddy has the GX-4i and he couldn't lock anything either...and yes the setting is on and we only press the button 1x quickly

I have 4 rounds on my gx3i and love it.
As far as the reticle, I use the smallest one which is just a small crosshairs.
I guess I must be using the pin hunter incorrectly cuz it spits out the first yardage it gets and stays there when you hit the button once after turning it on. But the scan mode picks up flags instantly at great distances. (350+ yards)

I found the 1500 just slightly faster than the gx3 (not "i")... one difference you will notice is you do not push and hold the button on the leupold to activate their pinhunter/seeker. lots of people get this wrong and push hold (scan mode) and wonder why there is no lock. I found the bluish tint of the leupold a bit annoying, and also the tenth of a yard displays (.5 for the z6). maybe the next iterations will have an option for whole number only displays

I love my GX3i, coming from a Callaway Upro which i did enjoy thoroughly. For the GX3i though, I almost exclusively use scan mode though. I find it is actually quicker then pin hunter. Scan mode has zero problems picking up the flag, and I am very happy with it.
